And the irony? The show's not in danger of being cancelled. On the other hand, it's for a good cause, so cool for them.

This part kinda pisses me off, though.

Quote:

The network just finished extinguishing a yearlong fan uprising about its other ratings-challenged cult drama, "Jericho" (which the network canceled last month). At least executives can take heart that, unlike in the infamous "Jericho" peanut-mailing campaign, "Moonlight" fans are using their blood to help a good cause rather than sending it to the network.

Rather than seeing how powerful (and positive) a force fandom can be, the media still seems insistent on writing us all off as loonies, or in this case, a nuisance. When will they ever learn?

PATSRULE

I watched Jericho last year and this year, and I write off the peanut senders as loons. The show got less viewers after it was saved than the low ratings it got last spring. All that money, effort, and harassment (yes it was harassment) wasn't really all that positive, although it did kind of achieve its goal. But really, the whole point of the protest was protest by nuisance.

Hell, Firefly is one of my top three tv shows of all time, but I writeoff people who thought they were browncoats for the show and bought tickets for Serenity screenings that they weren't going to go to just to try to up the tickets sales statistics, or bought more than five copies of the firefly dvd as loons too.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I disagree that the peanuts were not for a good cause. They were dedicated by CBS to homeless shelters.

As to Jericho fans being "loons", I suppose that is a matter of opinion. Don't agree with it, but that is my right just as it's yours to say they are.

And of course the fact Jericho did poorly in the second season had nothing to do with there being an 8 month hiatus, being in a 10pm EST time slot on a week night, Big Brother (a reality show) being the lead in, or little to no marketing of the 2nd season by CBS.
