Yep, filming began Monday, February 11, 2008. Here's the source:

I for one hope this movie bombs at the box office. For those who haven't heard, they changed the premise of the original series. Apparently in the movie, G.I. Joe is not a U.S. military team but a international spec ops organization.

First they took the "the American way" line out of the last Superman movie, now this.

I urge everyone to boycott this anti-American piece of garbage.

Funny. The term G.I. Joe is a term for American soldiers. Hmmm.

According to reports, the film will have it stand for the silly named "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity."

Yet another reason to NOT drink anything while posting at FFF. Don't think this stupid monitor can take too many more spit takes.

Thanks PD.

Of course I'll boycott it.

They f'd up GI Joe when they took away the kung-fu grip and made it a team. That crap from the 80's blew.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Agreed. I won't be seeing it because of two reasons:

1) they have made "A Real American Hero" into some lame international team

2) Marlon Wayans being in talks for the part of Ripcord. This guy single handedly destroyed the D&D movie. Why oh why would they let him have a part in anything, especially a GI Joe movie?

They could have at least opted for Damon Wayans. One truly funny MoFo who could pull off being a bit of a hard ass in a funny way.

Don't know much about the actual movie but....

It'll probably be aimed at kids.
Have millions of product placements.
Helicopters will crash into mountains. Explode. Then the occupants will stumble out alive.
Nobody will die in the film. Because it's wrong to kill.
The terms 'Thunderbirds movie' and 'pile of crap' will be used in reviews.
It'll make millions and an inevitable sequel will be greenlit.

Ick.

I wasn't overfond of that Transformers movie either, the director needed a boot up his arse after one to many EXTREEEEMMEMEMEMEMEEE action close ups...

But I did think the army guys were kind of a sideways nod to GI Joe, hell, that was the best part OF the movie.
