Hey All

I know everyone here's been waiting for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: RAZOR to be released, but today I picked up the "direct to DVD movie ased on an awesome sci-fi show" that I personally was waiting for even more, the first of four FUTURAMA direct-to-DVD movies BENDER'S BIG SCORE. Was just wondering who has picked it up yet?

Got it this morning, and love it. Even though it's in widescreen, it feels like the show hasn't gone off the air. They got their swipes at the FOX network out of the way, and then really got into the trademark geek/sci-fi humor right off the bat. I like how they decided to push the cartoon nudity as much as possible, and a couple of times they push a bit of the cartoon violence they probably couldn't have gotten away with years ago. And the whole time travel plot they had going was enjoyably convoluted. I'd have to say this was a bigger love letter to the fans than SERENITY was to us. Practically every major, and some minor, moments of the series was referenced, and they did a good job at introducing minor characters that will come back in the next three movies.

The only minor complaint I had was that you can see the twist with the new character coming right from the beginning. But other than that, flawless.

Plus, I also liked the math featurette on the DVD. I can see it being used in high school and college classes to make algebra and math cool to teenagers and college kids. Funny AND educational.

Good news everyone.
If you loved the series you will love this.
It was great. It was so good to see it back.
I watched this by 'other means' but I have my DVD winging its way across the pond as I type this.

The whole intro scene with the Box/Fox Network and Planet Express having it's delivery license cancelled was a great parallel to the show being cancelled. It's worth every Browncoat watching just for this bit.

Now all we need them to do is parody FF/Serenity and the show will be complete. I think they could do a really good job of it, so fingers crossed for the next three movies!
