I know this movie is considered a modern classic by some, but I couldn't stand "Scarface". I considered it a total waste of money and two hours I'll never get back.

For me, in any movie, there has to be at least one character I can identify with or sympathize with. Scarface didn't have a single character that I identified or sympathized with. They were all low lifes.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Would you like some orange juice?
Yes please I would love some orange juice.
A large orange juice?
Yes, well...maybe not...maybe I should just get a medium orange juice...but I'd like a large orange juice...maybe I could get a medium orange juice and a small orange juice and end up somewhere in between and medium and a large orang...*walks out*

I swear I couldn't take it anymore. wtf did that have to do with anything? It hurt my brain so much. At least the girl I was with hated it too. The dialog was just so awful. I'm seriously in some pain right now just thinking about it. That's the only movie I've ever walked out on.

The Thin Red Line
I was really looking forward to this movie. Trailers made it look good. I don't mind films taking their time to get somewhere, even if they are not going anywhere....
....but this bored me to tears. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood on that particular day, but I kept falling asleep (unheard of for me when watching a cinema screening). I was so close to walking out.

Not really a film but the trailer for Die Hard 4 just made me go "No, no, NO".
I love the first three but that trailer was too far fetched, and I've been told that the actual film is the same. I now simply refuse to watch no.4, it does not exist, there is just a trilogy.

More recently the jazz club dance scene in Spidey 3. What were they thinking??? The walking down the street thinking he was cool was bad enough but the club bit was just way too much. At this point I'd lost interest and it didn't matter how good the rest of the film was that scene had ruined it. The rest of the film didn't make anything up either.

P.S. (read with heavy sarcasm)
Thanks Chrisisall. You've just ruined Steel Magnolias for me. I was SO going to watch that movie tonight. For my revenge, you should know that Beth dies in Little Women!!!

ah you really aint seen it - coz in the movie it DON'T SINK!!! there's like this misty golden glow some even worse fake irish dancing music and they go up into space till they come down again all, like, real OLD but kind and wise coz that freakin genius Cameron pulled a fast one and made Cocoon 3!!

it was a time HOLE. not an ice berg - we actually get a clever tip off when DeCaprio quotes Bob Dylan lyrics early in the film (and that's not a joke and was the point at which i threw up my hands and stormed out).

SOLARIS - The George Clooney/Steven Soderberg remake of it that came out in 02. Bored me to tears, didn't go anywhere and eventually I just got up and left. That's the only time I've ever walked out of a movie because of the quality of the flick. Other times, it was because maybe I was tired or just not in the mood.

And I completely agree with the sentiments about SPIDER-MAN 3.

For me it was the end of Revenge of The Sith....the other 2 movies were bad enough, but when Anakin finally gets into the Darth Vader suit and does his frankenstein's monster impersonation..it was the last straw for me.

I still wish Lucas had never done his prequels...they were all a HUGE disappointment.

Ewan McGregor was the only shiny thing about those awful films.

Napoleon. Dynamite.

The only - the ONLY - movie I have ever thought was completely beyond any hope of being anything but a pointless waste of time before I was done watching it. Most unfortunately I could not actually throw up my hands and walk out on any of the numerous occasions I had the urge to, because for some INSANE reason the guy I went with was enjoying it, and on that particular night he was my ride.

Did similar thing with David Cronenbergs Crash and almost threw my 'wholeself' at the tv after watching The Idiots!

Noteable mentions to Fifth Element, Alien vs Predator, Resident Evil I & II, Underworld I & II and pretty much any film that Brian De Palma directs (Scareface, Dressed to Kill, Blow out etc) for making me want to through the film makers at my TV after watching their films.

Yeah, the Fifth Element was awesome. I mean, Gary Oldman's character was kinda blah, but he's really a sideshow. The movie is about Bruce Willis with guns and that redheaded chick wearing band-aids and Chris Tucker in a dress.

The soundtrack actually includes that whole long monologue Tucker does when he first enters. You know... "KORBEN DALLAS! Here he is, the one and only winner of the Gemini Croquette contest! This boy is fueled... LIKE FIRE!" And all that.

There's two kinds of people in this world: those with loaded guns, and those who dig.
Now DIG.

I'm thinkin' my "omfg wtf" movie moment is going to have to go with the Rocky movies. I know these are considered classics and great feel goods but they were so predictable. As time went on, they only got worse. I will say number one and 2 weren't bad, I can tolerate those. However from 3 on were just HORRIBLE. Even the new one. Ugh. And the fact they are on TV all the time pisses me off. Except for Rocky V. That one is never on. WORST FILM EVER = Rocky V.

I just don’t have any sympathy for you, dude. Anyone with an ounce of testosterone would have known to stay away from that movie. I’ve never seen it. I’ve never seen Beaches or Thelma and Louise, and I never will.

I did see Titanic, which while way too long, wasn’t all that bad.

Some movies that make shoving toothpicks under your toenails feel good:

Saw.
Walked out, after about an hour. I don’t know what to say about it. If you watched this movie all the way though, you should seek help.

Norbit.
Hate my friends as a result of being forced to watch this crap because I didn’t have a way home.

Son of the Mask.
Went about an hour, then found doing the dishes more entertaining.

Elekra.
I watched it - the whole thing - so it wasn‘t repulsive, but I shouldn‘t have wasted my time.

Any Highlander following the first one.
Does anyone else get the impression that the people who make all the Highlanders following the first one, never actually saw the first one?

Any Matrix following the first one.
Is it possible to make a masterpiece of science fiction and then flush it down the toilet with the creation of a sequel? It is.

Any Rambo following the first one.
Ya know some movies should just learn when to stop.

Anything starring Jessica Alba in which she is not an invisible scientist or a genetically enhanced soldier.

Since no one's mentioned a TV show, here's mine:

Second and third episodes of Moonlight: The second one had me pulling my hair out, the third bored me to tears so much that I just eventually went to bed.

Human Nature (Doctor Who) - I wasn't the quality of the episode (it's actually one of the best episodes of the season), it's just that The Doctor pissed me off so much I wanted to throw blunt objects at the TV screen.

Sanctuary (Angel) - Once again, not a quality issue, I just wanted to murder Buffy.

I was literally praying for God to toss a spare lightning bolt my way during that. I swear that must be one those movies that has to be watched while you're stoned, and since that ain't my thing, I never needed to see it.

Spidey 3 was bad. Sony made Raimi shoehorn in Venom, which is a character that deserved to be the sole bad guy, but the rest of movie was just Raimi's fault. The jazz/dance scenes could have been lost, Sandman could have been better developed, Bruce Campbell wasn't funny(and I've been a fan of his since Brisco), and the Peter/Mary Jane stuff was ripped out of one of Raimi's earlier projects "For Love of the Game" down to the "Are you there?" on the answering machine. After the triumph of the second one the third one really deserved to be made by someone that wasn't sick of the material.

I wanted to start a cheering section for Titanic during DiCaprio's death scene, but didn't have enough friends with me.

As for The Fifth Element, the only thing I would have changed would be to add a Chris Tucker death scene. Something nice and painful.

Saw the first Matrix at the base theater same day I saw Knotting Hill. Was blown away completely by the Matrix, but I'm happy that I skipped paying to see the sequels. As for Knotting Hill, that movie belonged to Hugh Grant's flatmate.

Oh, and the latest would be the film version of Phantom - I hate broadway musicals anyway, and I had no idea that I was being dragged to see a film version of one. During the graveyard scene I almost yelled out, "GUT him you moron! Oh, no, they're singing AGAIN!"

Bad time to say I actually liked Napolean Dynamite, eh? Ha ha. *is loser*. Out of everyone I know who saw it, they either LOVED it or hated it. There was no happy medium.

And I couldn't agree more about the Saw movies. Over rated. I saw the first one and was not impressed. I think it gives sick people ideas, IMO however I'm not against in the making of them. I'm also one of the 5% of people who thought Hostel was worse. (blood-torture terms) There was something about it that made me go "OMFG!! THEY ACTUALLY MADE THIS?!"

"Saw" seemed a little too...extreme...ly...fake. Hostel was made to look like it could actually happen.

YES!!! THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is the worst movie of 2004. My hatred for that film speaks volumes.

Also, completely agree with you on NAPOLEON DYNAMITE. Not once did I laugh or think it was an awesome flick that defines a generation. Especially in comparison to Fox Searchlight's other summer sleeper GARDEN STATE.

I cringe whenever I see a "Vote for Pedro" sticker or t-shirt.

And same for Chris Tucker in FIFTH ELEMENT. He was one of the worser things about that movie. Really overrated and pales in comparison to Luc Besson's earlier flick LEON THE PROFESSIONAL.

But I disagree with REQUIEM FOR A DREAM. If you see it in the theater, it's an amazing movie that really hits you and makes you want to swear off aspirin, let alone drugs legal or illegal. You want to scare teens off of drugs, show them that.

I rarely walk out of a film, for a number of reasons. However, I will amend this topic during my post to the second half of the title.

Titanic - Real world research on the Titanic found for the first time the real cause of the sinking, which had been refuted since the Court of Inquiry. This occurred during filming, and well before completion of filming. However, Cameron refused to accurately portray the cause - this could have been the first time in the history of all the Titanic films to have complete accuracy, and he blew it. The actual cause had already been stated in the Court of Inquiry, and was stated by the Primary Engineer on the crew of the shipbuilder in Scotland. Then the filmakers blab ad nauseum about how the deck chairs and flatware were so accurate, when they all knew they completely falsified the cause of the sinking. Duh!

Thin Red Line - Sean Penn pretending to act, takes his helmet off in combat to show off his hippie hair while pretneding to portray a soldier or Marine, because his hair is the only way he can relate to a character or pretend to be somebosy else - different hairstyle. whooo. An "actor" who can't suffer a haircut to portray a role isn't worth spit.

Likewise, anything with will smith - the fresh Prince of the Marine Airwing meets Aliens, The fresh Prince of Men in Black, Fresh Prince of Miami Vice, blah blah blah.

Sadly, I watched a new ep of Stargate Sunday- because it had Morena in it. I lasted about 10 minutes- it was like a *R*E*A*L*L*Y*, really bad episode from the 3rd year of original Star Trek-- space ships and power surges and people beaming up and beaming down. All it lacked was dilithium crystals failing.

Well it was too camp for my blood.

Gary Oldman does his usual overacting hammy thing.

The whole film looks like a bad doodle and the art direction dated as it went along.

The costumes are too visually strident and take you out of the story.

I've never been able to fully disengage reality when large aliens become human subjects and are considerably smaller than there alien mass. I know it's petty but that has always irked me when I see that.

Plus the Aliens are poorly designed. Nothing inventive about them.

Finally a paroxide Bruce Willis!

Plus points are:

Nice martial arts from Mila (no I don't find her attractive, but I liked her physicality with the martial arts)

Bryon James, Lee Evans, Charlie Creed-Miles and Ian Holm.

Sorry to be such a misery but I just didn't 'get' this film. Just one of those things.

And I like Luc Besson - The Big Blue is just beautiful. If you have the chance watch it!

Oh please no Reginaroadie... I'm so glad I didn't have the misfortune of being dragged to the cinema to watch this. (As I was with the 1st Harry Potter film!)

I don't much think it would work to deter kids or anyone off drugs. It's a self indulgent trip of simplistic righteousness and it is relentless. It slams it at you right from the beginning and doesn't let go. Melodrama follows melodrama with absolutely no narrative flow. It just didn't earn its right to be so preachy.

Anyway - ignore me... I must admit over the years my distaste for this film has maybe grown disproportionately so. I would therefore never want to put people off from watching it. I'm sure if you enjoy a little social commentary/human melodrama with your films you may enjoy this....

It just wasn't for me.

Yes, Hayden was in the costume, though, he had to look out of the mouth piece, because he was a little shorter than the original Darth Vader actor. Even if it was CG, that still does not excuse the worst body language acting in history!

Meet the Hollowheads. This made no sense, had no plot, and not even anything to distract from the drug-induced ideas. "In the future, we will eat the tenticles of space creatures" Ugh. My sister has a talent for finding these movies. She has been forbidden from doing that anymore.

After the World Ended - watched this last night. At home. Considered walking out to the trash can with the dvd. But it was Netflix's so I just returned it. The premise was neat, a documentary of the last 180 people in San Fran, 12 years after a plague decimated the world. But I couldn't get into it. Everyone was too pretty, neatly washed/groomed/clothes in great shape. People still did their previous occupations, instead of working to get food. The only highlight was Adam Savage as an engineer that keeps electricity going.

Most 80's horror movies - why bother with a plot? Just throw blood around, and make sure there's lots of T and A. Ugh.

Facts of Life reunion - avoided like the plague bearing brain destroying waste it was. My mom and sisters watched it. I left and went to the opposite side of the house.

Anything with Ben Affleck. Pretty boy can't act.

Agree with Titanic, and Highlander after #1. Although, if you are a sexually repressed teenager, the sex scenes in Highlander 2 and 3 are enough to send you to your bunk.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

The 'plot' of Napoleon Dynamite:

Nothing happens.
Nothing continues to happen.
Something random and unrelated to anything happens.
Ear-grating dialogue backed up with flat acting.
Cute girl number one.
Nothing happens.
Gosh!
Something kind of starts happening, but we're not sure which part of the 'story' matters in any way, shape, or form.
Cute girl number two. This one can act. She is the only one in the movie who can, and she has maybe three lines.
A few things happen that are vaguely related to things that sort of happened before.
Best moment in the movie. It involves gang bangers and no dialogue. At all.
Some sort of conclusion is reached and there is dancing.

Worst. Movie. Ever.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Never saw, so can't agree or admit.

Exactly. That whole movie was all about the things that entertain complete losers.

There were several scenes involving Kip in which the size of his food would increase with each scene. In one case, while Kip and the other dude are talking at a local diner, Kip is eating onion rings, which appear to grow each time we see Kip. In another scene in which Kip is talking to Napoleon, the cheese on his nachos gets larger and larger with each scene. The whole movie is just about the things that entertain the mundane and uninspired. That movie had me rolling.

Nihil est incertius vulgo, nihil obscurius voluntate hominum, nihil fallacius ratione tota comitiorum.

Nothing is more unpredictable than the mob, nothing more obscure than public opinion, nothing more deceptive than the whole political system.

As a disciple of Kevin Smith, I have to disagree with the "anything Ben Affleck" comment.

Yes the majority of the movies he has done are awful, but you can't overlook the work he's done with Kevin Smith. Him and Kevin are like Scorsese/De Niro and Carpenter/Russell or Whedon/Fillion. These are two guys who really know each other, are the best of friends and can bring out the best in each other. Doesn't matter if it's a small part or a lead, Smith just brings the best out of Affleck.

Plus, you can't ignore CHANGING LANES or HOLLYWOODLAND. And don't get me started on GONE BABY GONE. One of if not the most amazing fucking movie of the year so far. I honestly think that he could possibly become the next Clint Eastwood. I mean, Clint was a big movie star at one point, his career kinda faltered with the two movies he did with an orangutan, and now he's considered one of the best directors in the industry.

It is funny how everything with Ben Afleck sucks but yet movie makers still try making films with him.

That's Hollywood for ya- It's because of the Screen Writers strike. They're desperate enough to put out all the shit movies that were on the back burner.
Even the ones with Ben Affleck

One sci-fi movie which people seem to have forgotten (and probably with good reason), which I nearly walked out of about 4 or 5 times, is Battlefield Earth.
Holy God, that movie was bad, which is a shame, as the book was quite good, and the casting was pretty good as well. It was more pointless than playing Marco Polo with Helen Keller (to quote one of my fave TV legends)

Chris:

The first time the bald female alien appeared in the Star Trek movie everyone in theater started laughing out loud. She was so silly looking. She got more laughs than the cow fetus in Firefly.

Maybe that is why Joss stayed away from aliens.

I am being honest. The entire theater broke out in a horse laugh when she appeared. I think it is the only time I have ever known that to happen.
