Hate to bust in on the haze fest but I still think that the new BSG is the best scifi on TV right now and that the original sucked a fat one. I haven't seen razor yet (yes I know it hasn't technically come out but its already on the net) so I can't judge how it is but I've heard its amazing.

However, I am disappointed that they think this movie gives them the excuse to wait a full year to continue the damn show and that none of the cities they're releasing it in are remotely close to the ENTIRE SOUTH EASTERN PART OF THE UNITED STATES!!!! Come on, Atlanta's a big town, show some love....

I'm agreeing with DerangedMilk here - the new BSG is still one of the best shows (top 3) currently on television (though I do have a certain fondness for the original, too).

Yes, some of the latest episodes are certainly weaker than the first season's, but look how high they set the bar to begin with. And I'll say they have been getting a bit pretentious, trying to shock just for the sake of being shocking. But they aren't afraid to try new things, and usually they pull it off. The dialogue is NOT inane and predictable (unlike, IMHO, EVERY other original series currently on SciFi channel - how many times can you stand to listen to people on SG Atlantis say "We're talking about so-and-so's LIFE here!" without cringing?), the storylines and subplots are engaging if not always successful (Lucy Lawless' character's suicide-and-rebirth fetish) and the visuals are better than some movies my son has made me take him to the theatres to see lately. Now, if they could throw in a joke at least once every other episode.....

And are they boycotting the Southeast with the Razor screenings?? Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham... we have people who'd pack a theatre in any of those. OK, maybe not PACK, but at least put in a good showing!!

MAL "You only gotta scare him."
JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

the 'new' BSG is absolutley the Bees Frackin' Knees..
every show has ups and downs - but it eats all the CURRENT sci-fi shows alive.

dull and depressing - i didn't find it so - ithink it's dark, intelligent - willing to take risk and for once NOT BLAND entertainment. It aint all perfection - what show is but..

oh yeh also - ratings schmatings - it kicks monkey ass!:) and Glen A Larson - ah c'mon - go check the prodcution history of the guy... oh and he did manimal and automan too - and maybe, streethawke! GHA! classics!
he PUSHED for Galactic80!!! yadda yadd crimes against tv too numerous to mention - but the original BSG had (despite flaws) a great technical and creative crew and a likeable cast - THEY made it.

ps premire in theatres before tv...?
that might a way for sernity ii...???

SINGATE

It seems like we go through this whole "new BSG sucks, no it doesn't" routine every few months. I will say that I almost jumped ship this past season because for about two thirds of the season everyone seemed to be spinning their heels. I'd like to say I didn't agree with the direction the show had taken but in all honesty there did not appear to be any direction at all. The trial and Starbuck's magical mystery adventure got me back on board. I cannot wait to see Razor and as a fellow Southeast dweller I agree that it should be shown in one of the major cities down here.

As much as I used to like this series I do not hold it in such high regard anymore. It is no longer the best sci-fi/fantasy show and there are even some mainstream series that I hold in higher regard. I think a lot of people who defend the show so vigorously still hold on to the memory of what it used to be. If the writers didn't pull off such a great finish I'm not sure there would be any way to justify this past season. Apparently, the network is trying to kill the fanbase completely, not via abrubt cancellation but by spreading out the final episodes so that everyone becomes disgusted or loses interest.

Anyone been watching the Razor " flashback " teasers ?

Select to view spoiler:

Number four, where Bill Adama attacks two raiders, has a mid air with one, ejects, then gets into a shootout / knife fight while falling from 200,000 feet.... then happens to land into the same building with his parachute and beat the crap out the cylon with a pipe...

Was this some sort of homage to Family Guy and Peter Griffins fight with the giant chicken ?

The Alliance said they were gonna waltz through Serenity Valley. And we choked 'em with those words. We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty.

That's not true. they're just watching differently.

I agree. Witness me just asking about the Razor bits. Went and watched and am instantly fascinated just like I am watching BSG. Best show currently not on tv... it's so hard to wait!
