Actually I love it (though the last ep sucked IMO), and I pre-ordered the DVD's from Amazon months ago...but they didn't charge my card until day before yesterday...my card expired a week ago...bastards.

Amazon tells me it is on the way... along with my CE! Woot!

Had the same feelin' about the last ep. when I first saw it. Watched it again on DVR and it wasn't too bad. So much build-up from the season had my expectations pretty high.

Select to view spoiler:

Just wish Niki would have put a lil more "beat down" on Sylar at the end. More of a "battle royale", I guess.

Thanks for the tip! Hubby just got birthday money and is planning to buy the set. I'll let him know he needs to hightail it over to BB.

I'll be excited to watch the set. I'm not an uber-fan like my dear husband but a fan nonetheless.

Possible spoilers if you haven't seen the final ep:

From what I understand (and this is third hand at best) a big part of the problem is that they were planning a battle royale with *pause for dramatic tension* character deaths, but the studio cut funding and told them "no character deaths", so we ended up with a bunch of people standing around looking at each other instead of beating the $%^&* out of each other.

Thanks for the spoiler warning, Fred. Being a virgin (and STILL one technically, having only seen the un-aired and different pilot...), I don't wanna know too much up front!

I bought this blind, never saw the show on TV, just got it because of all the praise for it.
And I have a nice long lazy 5 day weekend...

I have a question though, what's up with the "un-aired" pilot? I noticed it's not part of the episode lineup. Is it just a re-edit of the first aired episode or is it something totally different (ala "Serenity" and "The Train Job")?
Should I watch it first?

I got mine! Best Buy as well, but damn the Canadian pricing...

Sigh... at least I got the comic this time. I was hoping it was the comic Hiro carried around, sort of a collection of Issac's painting but sadly no. Still... is it pretty cool.

Well, I watched it first, and it is interesting to note the extensive changes it underwent, but you don't NEED to see it, it's more of an interesting-to-fans thing, so you might wanna check it out after you become one...

Got mine at Best Buy as well, great price. I feel a marathon coming on over the holiday.

Sidenote: to any fans of The Pretender-get yourself over to Best Buy ASAFP. They have all four seasons on sale for $15 each! Regular price is $30-35.

Haven't seen it yet, but I will say this:

It's supposedly going to be more of a Serenity/Train Job deal. In that, NBC apparently didn't like the 78-minute original pilot, so they had Kring redo it, partly for a shorter timeslot and partly, I dunno what else.

*shrug*

I got mine with my CE

But I haven't gotten the chance to watch it yet. I watched maybe half of it when it was on TV, though, and bought the set mostly 'cause it was cheap on Amazon (and gave me free shipping on the CE, heh), but also because I wanted to catch up before the new season starts. The show's very twisty and stuff, so I would be at a disadvantage probably if I didn't see the parts I missed from season one first!

REGINAROADIE

Got it on a trip to Edmonton and I'm only on the third disc.

The original 73 minute pilot is OK in that it's an alternate version, and it's interesting to note how stuff that was deleted still ended up in the series, but in a different way. The big change is the Matt Parkman storyline in that he's involved with finding a terrorist cell, which was responsible for the train wreck in Odessa. And the terrorists have a guy who has the exact same powers as Ted aka. Radiation Dude. They wisely cut the whole thing a re-did Matt's storyline, plus re-cast his wife. But other than that as well as a few small changes here and there, not missing much.

But you should watch it because there's a really funny FIREFLY reference. During a scene when Matt is listening on some people in the park, one of them thinks "Ten percent of nothing is nothing." That made me smile, to know that the folks at HEROES are also Browncoats. Maybe one of our BDH's will really become one of the "Heroes".

As per the finale, I'm one of the few people that actually liked it. They decided to go for an emotional climax and payoff instead of just a spectacle filled battle royale. It kinda reminded me of the ending to THE IRON GIANT. Besides, after seeing X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and the anal rape that was done to it, I'm glad that they didn't go that route and draw unfavorable comparisons to it.

I'd rather be reminded of a great animated movie than a shit sequel.

"And it starts with a sentence that might last a lifetime, or it all might just go down in flames. If I let you know me, then why would you want me? Each day I don't is a shame. Each day I don't is a great shame."

I'm with you, Regina, I liked the season finale. But then again, I was never a huge comic-book-heroes-throwing-down-and-kicking-ass kind of girl.
I watched the un-aired pilot and decided I like the aired version better. Though I am curious where they were going with the connection between Parkman & The Engineer.
I even think they were wise to re-cast his wife. The original woman was tiny in stature and it looked awkward to see them together. His current wife matches him better -- less distracting, more believable.
Basically they replaced cut footage to fill in the time left empty when they cut the terrorist cell storyline. Mohinder talks more in depth about the miracle of cockroach anatomy. The karaoke boy band cover a few more bars of the Backstreet Boys. It's very subtle and fun to try and recognize. However.....
** If you haven't seen the series yet, I would NOT recommend watching the un-aired version first. **

I got mine! I got mine!

Other changes between the Pilot and Genesis were: In the pilot Parkman was testing for SWAT, in Genesis he was testing for detective; The blonde FBI woman(Invisible girl Marcie from Buffy) wasn't in the pilot; and Issac the painter was allowed to keep his hand in Genesis.
