I just bought Conan 1 & 2 (on one disk) for $10, haven't seen the second one EVER on DVD...my memory of it is cruel, but I expect to have fun with it now....

Of course, no sword n' sorcery flick will EVER match the first one, but hey- Basil Poledouris does the music, I buy the movie, y'know?

One of the GREAT film scores. That makes it for me.

Ahhhh... the good old days when a good film didn't have to have one-armed, widowed, dying in 12hours, emotional, over-the-top, tear jerking, melodramatic piano or violin players or enough special effects, CG creatures, and eardrum splitting explosions to give even people NOT suffering from Epilepsy fits, whose target demographics are people suffering from ADD and ADHD, with no discernable writing talents evident and little to no storyline.

When a B movie was truly a B movie and people didn't expect Oscar winning performances from it but enjoyed them none the less.

I liked them both, but I'm not a fan of Grace Jones so the 2nd one I didn't like as mush. But then time may have rose-colored my perspective once again. (eg Buck Rogers)

Big Trouble in Little China was another good campy B movie.

I think Basil topped even his score for the first one.

Good, clean campy fun with swords, sorcery and cleavage - what's not to like?

JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

How did I KNOW this was your thread?

There's a lot I could say but it'd take too long. I do still like to watch it (especially when Mako and that other wizard face off) but it'll never be as good as the first. I mean come on, James Earl Jones people.

"I am the life spring from which you flow."
and the best line
"Contemplate this on the Tree of Woe."

And though it's not the best acting or script (Jones and Ahnold and the basketball player) I do enjoy it. Now I could go on to great length about how they screwed up Conan's story and the characters and continuity.... but that's another thread.

Now I'm curious to know what you think of *gulp* Red Sonya?

I love that little "prayer" he does in the first one before things get hairy, it just slays me...

Morricone did the music, which made the movie more palitable, but Bridgette Neilson? Not my cup of Earl Gray...

Frem, do you have the first one on DVD? If not, it's a great deal- CtB (Anamorphic Director's Cut with bonus features and commentary on one side) plus CtD (Non-animorphic, but a good-looking presentation anyway) for $10!!!

Bridgette Neilson nor Grace Jones... *shudder*

My one worry is that 'they' will try to do a remake of it.

What did anyone think of Scorpion King? I thought it was very much in the same vein as Conan.

I really liked Scorpion King- it was a smooth combo of the light-hearted and the harsh. Plus: KELLY HU!!!!
