Any other fans of this show?

I know that the change in direction has some fans off. A lot of posters on the USA Network forum are already writing the show off after one episode.
Personally whilst I liked Walt's character and thought Chris Bruno did a fine job, I am happy for him to be gone. If this means more screen time for Nicole deBoer then YEAHHHH!!! It already seems like Sarah and JJ will move in to Johnny's house (the convenient breakfast scene foreshadows that).
In the last season she was hardly there, and she gets second billing in the credits!!

I started watching the show when it first arrived for two reasons. Big fan of the book/movie and Nicole was in it, who is one of my three favourite actresses (her smile gets me everytime...ahhhh).

As to the plot, I don't think armageddon is over. Johnny has seen visions before that show everything alright, and then the destruction comes back. Stillson is still a bad guy, even without Janus controlling him, we just get to glimpse little flashes of possible redemption for him.

Walt's 'case' intrigues me. Could be several things that relate to Johnny (Stillson is his brother, Purdy REALLY is his father), it could be a number of things and I guess Johnny will slowly get clues as the season progresses.

So I'm liking it. More Nicole (hopefully), maybe a return to more personal episodes as well.

Guess we'll see how it goes...

Gaaah! Scariness!

I for one was very disappointed that they killed off Walt. I really liked his character. But I definitely wouldn't write the show off yet. They've come up with some great stories so far, I don't think they'll stop now.

SINGATE

I kind of lost track of this show over the last few seasons. It doesn't seem like it's been around that long. Just by accident I caught the season opener because it aired right after The 4400.

Quite shocking to see Walt offed in the very first episode. The effect was magnified because Johnny seemingly thwarted his death several times before he died in the fire. I've got mixed feelings on the issue. On one hand Walt was a great character, the anchor of the show so to speak. Great husband and father, dedicated policeman, and Johnny couldn't ask for a better ally. On the other side the show had been a bit stale which is kind of why I hadn't kept up with it. Killing a main character shakes things up, allowing new players to step in and change the group dynamic.

You're right on about Nicole, she has been adorable ever since her first appearance on DS9. Not sure how I feel about the pregnancy angle. Quite often in television bringing a baby into the picture signals the death kneel for a series.

SICKDUDE

Well, it really me off! Plus, it was a bad episode, which might just be because of all they had to do in just one hour. My wife and I decided they have two more episodes to bring the quality back...

I get the feeling they keep having their budget cut. I hated how last season they got rid of the cool opening theme. In general, the music, writing, production, photography, etc have all been suffering. They even changed JJs! And I think them getting rid of Chris Bruno, and putting David Ogden Stiers and the guy who plays Stillson, maybe even the guy who plays his friend, on the backburner is all about budget.
