I watched most seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and really enjoyed them, and have been wanting to collect all five seasons on DVD. But I was talking with a friend who said that after season 3, the show really went down hill. Well? That the case? I'd love to hear your thoughts 'fore I plunk down all that cash.

The last season was terrible until the final episode. For the most part, you should just pretend the last season never happened. You'd be much better off.

Season 3 and 4 weren't as good, but are still worth watching. Things do get unnecessarily convoluted, but the shows are still entertaining. I always found several things about the show completely preposterous, including all of the family ties, and the way any woman could beat up any man, but for mindless entertainment, it did its job.

Thanks for the recommendation. Maybe I'll just buy up to four and check out five via rental to see if it's something I want...

CHRISISALL

Funny, I bought the first season a while back on a whim, and found the serious tone of the show, mixed with the preposterousness of the actual events going on made for an unsettling combination- for ME, that is. But then I like my Bond movies on the edge of silly (not 'Roger Moore' silly, though).

I may have been too harsh on it.

GROUNDED

There was a definite downturn, but I think season 3 is at least worth seeing. They seemed to be floundering for ideas in season 4, with more acronyms flying than ever, but having said that I still watched the whole thing ;)

Haven't seen season 5, but the completist in me is guaranteed to pick it up eventually!

I agree with what was said about 3&4 so far causal. While they aint quite as good as the first two, they are still definetly worth checking out. I missed the last season when it was shown here though, so I can't say if I thought it was good or not. I might need to check it out via rental too sometime.

COSMICFUGITIVE

I used to be a fan of Alias. The show sorta did go downhill during the third season. There were some good episodes and guest roles, but eventually, I stopped watching sometime during the fourth season.

Select to view spoiler:

Ricky Gervais and director David Cronenberg both guest starred in season three. Cronenberg played a scientist who was tortured by Sark, and Gervais played an Irish bomb maker.

I loved the Rambaldi mythology, and Marshall was one of my favourite characters..

I enjoyed all the seasons of Alias! I liked the certain large aspect of Sydney in the 5th season!
