Just watching Drive with Nathan Fillion, and I'm struck by the similarities to Twsited Metal video game. Anyone else familier and seeing the connections?

Even the vehicles are straight out of the game.

Oh, and Jubal is in it too, very cool indeed!

Haven't played the game, but was very pleased to see the actor who played Jubal Early (I spent several seconds thinking 'why is that voice so creepily familiar?!')

And Nathan Fillion rocks, but we already knew that

Overall, I have to say I loved the first 2 hours and am definitely going to be watching next week!

Yep, that's the one.

The premise is the same. The game recruits people by offering them something, 1 wish, their greatest need fufilled, but the catch is, they have to win at any cost. Oh, and the prize is tainted.

Don't forget Mr. Grimm, who if memory serves was Death itself. I always loved that character, but his special manuver was so damn hard to aim. (can you tell I'm a video game geek )

Well I already mentioned this on another thread. Seems we Canadian's got a sneak peak before our American brethren did. It was alright. I wasn't blown away but it was alright.

The Winnipeg Free Press has it's own form of tv guide called TV Scene (more a large paper mag) And Nathan's on the cover holding up a picture of his wife. The critic gave it a great review. Wish I could upload the picture but I don't have any pic account.

Oh, and am I wrong or the woman playing his wife the one who played Fred on Angel? I've only seen a few Angel epi's but she looks like Fred/Aleria or whatever her name is.

Just wanted to edit: The woman that's in Deepgirl187's banner. Isn't she the one playing his wife?

Misstressahara I was trying to figure out who she was. Thank-you! That's exactly who it is.

And I agree, it was alright.

Back to the original question... has anyone played Twisted Metal?

Mr. Grimm was my vehicle of choice too. Once you got the hang of his special, it was devastating.

I thought so, I couldn't tell when they showed her picture but when...

He was having those delusions of her standing next to him while he was interrogating that inside agent I said "Hey I know who that is, that's Fred."

I guesse Minear's keeping it in the family.

I think I played Twisted Metal 2 more than any other game in college. No match or Coop was ever the same. We played mini-tournaments a few times.

I used Shadow (hurse boy) a lot. I drove in reverse and special'd people off da map. Ever get stuck with lightning? lol

Mwuh ha ha mwuh ha ha... vvroom vvroom... sccuurrrrrrrrrraaarr

...and I'll get to watch our cap'n on Sun.

Where were the video game geek girls when I was growing up?

Yeah... I remember Mr. Grimm. Scary dude.

I loved the Twisted Metal Black on PS2. That game rocked.

I'll have to check out drive now. I don't watch shows just because somebody is in it, but this sounds pretty cool.

Mind you, Drive doesn't have the missles and scary clowns, but I get the same overall "feel" from it as Twisted Metal. (TM2 was my favorite. I think 989 butchered it with TM3 nad TM4)

A mysterious entity recruits competetors by various unsavoury tactics and by preying on peoples weaknesses and greed.

I'll watch more.

I'll agree. TM3 and TM4 kinda blew. Though I do seem to remember one of the two having Dragula in it, which was pretty cool.

And while the original will always have a special place in my heart, I gotta give love to Twisted Metal: Black. For a first-person shooter/car race video game, that was really well done. It certainly put an interesting twist on the series, making cool characters even cooler (not to mention creepy as hell). And how can you not love using Paint It Black for the theme song?

Easy there 6ixstringJack it is possible for a girl to like Twisted Metal, just not common place. A rarity even.

Yeah I liked the darker aspect of Twisted Metal Black too. But it's the overall premise that rings true to Drive. Kinda like halfway between Cannonball run and Twisted Metal.

I like Nathan as an actor, so I'll give it a chance plus Rose, from 2 and a Half Men, is in it too.

When somebody starts driving an Ice Cream truck with a giant wobbly-headed clown on it shooting a freeze and then blows them off of a New York high rise with a rico. Then maybe.
