Harsh Realm (1999)
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0182587/

Loved all three episodes that aired, but unlike with Space: Above and Beyond, I didn't rush out and buy the DVD set when it was first released (in '04).
Waited too long for the price to drop, so when I went out to check on it about six months ago, I was told it was out of print!
Last week I found it at Amoeba < http:www.amoeba.com> for $19.99, so I snatched it up.
Whew! That was a close one!

Anyway, the Pilot episode alone was worth the price of admission, especially the climactic rescue scene that flowed to the beat of Prodigy's "Climbatize".
The episodes that featured Terry O'Quinn (4 in all) were phenomenal, but when he wasn't around the show took a dive, so I'm not sure how long it might've lasted with him only making occasional appearances.

Everybody was calling this show a lame rip-off of The Matrix, but it was actually in production 2 years before, and broadcast only 3 months after.

I was actually thinking of it as an improvement on VR.5, which irked me so bad I couldn't make it all the way through the Pilot episode.

Anybody else ever visit the Realm?

Another one gone before it's time :(

The episode guest starring Doug Savant was my pick of the lot, although strangely enough I don't think O'Quinn was in that one...

Yeah, "Kein Ausgang" had that certain Groundhog Day feel to it!

I loved "Harsh Realm". The whole concept of the show and the way the cast brought the stories to life. I particularly loved the almost anti-hero Mike Pinocchio played by the excellent D. B.Sweeney. There is a pretty big "Harsh Realm" fan fiction archive though nothing new has been added in the last couple of years to my knowledge. When the show was pulled after only three episodes (due to possible legal action in the wind from the writers of the Harsh Realm 6-issue comic who Chris Carter had bought the rights from and who then got very ansty because their names did not come up in the credits so were going to sue him) I was one of the small army of fans who campaigned to get the rest of the episodes shown, which Fox did but on her sister station. We also got the box set but sadly failed to get the series continued after Chris Carter inserted a byline to the comic writers and the legal action got dropped. Shame, but typical of Fox.

Of course, now I'm not so sure it really is out of print.
That's just what the guy at the store told me that one time and, much like an idiot, I believed him!

Well, I've wanted it for some time now and this tipped the scales in convincing the wife that it'd be best to buy it now while we still can. So, just don't tell her

And it took me an extra coupla seconds to make sure that really was Lance Henriksen in the Pilot!

Aside from the white hair, he just seemed to have a different shape to 'im.

SCORPIONREGENT

I liked it a lot once I got over the "it's not just a video game, it's an adventure" aspect. There's watching TV which you know isn't real and that enough suspension of disbelief for me. When the people in a artificial world have to go through the motions that's a leap I would rather not make. It took me two years before I warmed up to the Matrix. I watched Harsh Realm through Netflix. I'm glad I got to see it. Sometimes I wonder how much further the series would have gone if it had been given the chance. I suspect it wouldn't have made it more than halfway through the second season before it jumped the shark.

I was actually first in line at Grauman's Chinese!
Showed up an hour and a half early on 3/31/99 with my little camping stool, expecting a big line, but the place was deserted.
Hunkered down in front of the box office for about 45 minutes before the next person showed up.

After it was over, I walked the 4 blocks home all grins 'n' giggles, 'cause I knew that I just saw history being made!
I also knew that there was no way I'd get to be first in line so easily for the sequels that were sure to come!

Our DVD's just arrived this week! But, to get the free shipping I had to get some else as well (oh the horror... ). So, we went with 'This Is Wonderland Season 1'. I hope they put the other 2 seasons on DVD as well... hi-larious series.

Now only if I can find time to watch them...

CONSTANCE

It was a good show... never saw it on tv, cause it didnt air here (to my knowledge atleast). I knew before i started watching it that it was a canselled show, but that has been the case many times, and it always annoys me when the last episode doesnt answer a thing, just leaves everything hanging...stupid tv people that cant let a show finish properly... Was like that with Dadwood too, and Firefly. And the even more annoing thing is that a show like 7th Heaven get to run for forever... there is no justice.
