On a lighter side...
Sometimes even the worst movies or TV shows have some very memorable lines - words that stick in your head and won't go away. Some make you laugh, others make you think. What are your favorite lines from either a good or otherwise bad movie or TV show?

One of them is shown in my signature below (from Twin Peaks). Here is another one from Big Trouble in Little China.

"Next time some eight foot tall, wild-eyed maniac taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall and asks you if you've paid your dues, well, you just do what ol' Jack Burton always does at a time like that. You stare that sucker right back in the eye. 'Have you paid your dues, Jack?' 'Yes sir, the check is in the mail.'"--Jack Burton

---
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just... let it happen. Could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot, black coffee. - Agent Cooper

SERGEANTX

Mine is from an often overlooked gem "Joe vs. the Volcano".

Patricia Graynamore: "My father says almost the whole world's asleep. Everybody you know, everybody you see, everybody you talk to. He says only a few people are awake. And they live in a state of constant, total amazement."

This movie is actually full of little quotes like that. If fact the dialogue reads more like song lyrics than a typical script.

Not from the worst movie I've ever seen, just an obscure chick flick.

From "Con Air," I believe there is a car flying through the air and Nic Cage says, "On any other day, that would seem strange." Unfortunately, I use that all the time.

Also from "Raising Arizona," as he's robbing the convience store, " I'll be taking these huggies and....whatever cash you got."

From "The Matrix," "How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phonecall"

And one of my all time favorites from "Clerks," "I'm not even suppose to be here today!"

Might not be exact, memory gets kinda fuzzy after almost ten years..

"All your life, you've struggled against your own black heart, and always lost... you know what evil lurks in the hearts of men because you have seen that evil in your own heart, watched your spirit, your very face, change as the beast claws it's way out from within you.
Every man pays a price for redemption - this is yours." - The Tulku.

It's from "The Shadow", a fairly bad 1994 spinoff of the popular radio show.

Probably the shortest and best explaination in history of why wicked people are so very good at bollixing the plans of other wicked people.

Suenos, too many good Kevin Smith lines to count, huh?

I'm very fond of Clue-- it has reams of good lines.

"Men should be like kleenex: soft, strong, and disposable."

Also, Fight Club

"What you're feeling is premature enlightenment."

Obviously the "timeline" quote from Fight Club.

My absolute favorite line is from The Princess Bride. It sums up everything perfectly:

"Life is pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something."

You know it! Kevin Smith....sigh.....making the world a better place to live. Here are a couple more I like, from "Clerks," "You hate people!" "But I love gatherings. Isn't it ironic." and something along the lines of, "This job would be great if it wasn't for the fucking customers." Kills me every time.

As an avid 'Scaper I am often fond of dropping a FarScape quote whenever possible, since there are so many good ones. Favorites include "Who're you calling deficient?" and "There is always time for beer!"

I always liked Roddy Piper's line in They Live...

hm one line is hard but i have got a few ones

From Buffy:
Passion, it lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting, although unwanted, unbitten. It will stir.Open it's jaws and howl, Its speaks to us, guides us,Passion rules us all and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments, The joy of love, eclarity of hatred and ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bare, If we could live without passion,Maybe we'd know some kind of peace,But we would be hallow.Empty rooms, shuttered and dank. Without Passion...We'd be truly dead.

lots from Firefly for example:
Zoe: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area kneecaps

and lots more .. but the post would be too long then..

The lines in my sig are from the film "Dancer in the Dark " By Lars von Trier

They say it’s the last song
They don’t know us, you see
Its only the last song
If we let it be

NOXIOUS

I have quite a few favorite lines from what many consider to be a bad movie, Tank Girl. Many are in bad taste, but none the less, I like them.

"What? Come on, just one little adjective and we'll have a whole sentence here. The tank isn't... glad? sad? mad? lonely?" -Rebecca (Tank Girl)

One that comes to mind from Fight Club, one of the best movies ever.

"We are a generation raised by women. I'm wondering if another woman is the answer." -Tyler

Though the lines that run through my head the most are from a lacking TV show, great book, good video game, and excellent radio series: The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. Which are too numerous to even start.

Then there is the one below from John Steakley's Armor...

You are

I love the movie "Casablanca", so it would be something from there. I know to many, though, so here's a random quote (Or more than one):

Captain Renauld: I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here.
Casino Worker: You're winnings, sir.
Captain Renauld: Oh, thank you very much.
-Casablaca
"We shall rule over this land. And we shall call it...This Land."
-Wash
"The best beach party was the one at Normandy."
-T. V.'s Frank, MST3k
"Voodoo- It's the safe, economical way to inflict evil upon the world."
-Dr. Forrester, MST3k
"'Companion' can be used as a verb"
-This poster of Firefly Life Lessons I found. Where my "There are good people in the 'verse..." quote comes from.
Ah, flip. I can't (Well, I can, but oh well) think of any more.

From Dune, the litany against fear. I won't write the whole thing here but I thought it was pretty cool. A whole bunch of other lines from Frank Herbert books are really great. They rock my socks...which are notoriously hard to rock.

Also:
"His floppy head makes me sad." ~Jayne (cracks me up just thinking about it)

"How much are they paying you?"
"Two dollars and fifteen cents!" ~From Tank Girl

And just about every line from every Kevin Smith movie made.

"Ninjas are totally sweet. What with the guitar solos and the flipping out and totally chopping people's heads off." ~Jade Puget

"I love the sound of the pitter patter of little feet in big combat boots...SHUT UP!!" ~Capt. Mal

DRACOS

Two of my favorites are in my sig. One is an obvious carrry over from "The Train Job" that Im to lazy to fix and the other is part of the big litany from "The Waste Lands" by Stephen King. Past that we have:

"SMOKE YOU!" : The Fifth Element, as well as the very notion of "super-green."

"... And then Ill stomp on all the little tiny bits until Ive got blisters and then Ill keep doing it until, until, until youve had enough. And - WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?" Arthur Dent from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy upon seeing his house demolished and then seeing the giant space-craft above.

" What about Lando Calrisian? / Oh there aint nothin that can be argued without some whit boy bringing up the 'holy trilogy' is there?" : Chasing Amy

Duffman: What am I going to do? He's probably plotting to kill me right now! Duffman dosent want to be killed... What is he DOING?! (cut to shot of MacBeth on the couch laughing hysterically at Evil Dead 2 and then back to Duffman) Ugh. I'm not sure I want to know. (An excerpt from the script of the MacBeth video I made with friends in high-school, it was basiacally a modern MacBeth in which MacBeth kills his land-lord and I always liked this segment.

Dont ask me silly questions.
I wont play silly games.

I love Hitchhikker's Guide! One of my favorites (And I am not copying out of the book):

"The Encyclopedia Galactica defines alcohol as a colorless, volitile liquid and notes its intoxicating effects on some carbon-based life forms.
"The Hitchhikker's Guide to the Galaxy also mentions alcohol. It says the best deink in existence is the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.
"The effects of having a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is like having your brains smashed out by a lamon wedge large gold brick."

And then it goes fuzzy. I also like the Sperm Whale and Pot of Petunias ("Oh no, not again") bit.

I like the bit in "The Fifth Element" where the Diva Plavalaguna is singing, and Leeloo's fighting is matched to it.

Many more, keep flying!

You know, I just re-read the initial post for this thread. It said something about sometimes the worst films/TV shows can have the best lines. I usually don't like to post quotes that have more than one line of dialogue, but this is my favorite exchange from one of the world's stupidest movies. It's from the Glen Close 101 DALMATIONS, believe it or not:

"What kind of sycophant are you?"

"What kind of sycophant would you like for me to be?"

Just too funny.

SEVENPERCENT

Although the particular line was used in a couple of movies, it was probably best used in the movie Deep Rising, with Treat Williams as a ship captain who meets the mother of all monsters (after already dealing with armed terrorists) aboard an ocean liner in the middle of the S. China Sea - He's standing there, at the end of his rope, when this big slimy beast appears, and he just relaxes, pauses, and says:

"Now there's somethin' you dont see every day"

The way he delivers that line makes it the highlight of the movie-

He looked bigger when I couldn't see him.
