I guess most of this will only apply to people in the UK so far but has anyone here been watchin the new series on Life on Mars? Just seen episode 2 and think that the new series is more than living up to series 1. I cant believe this is gunna be the last series tho.

I totally agree. The series so far has been excellent.

I'm also sad it's going to be the last series.

Yep, enjoying it... love the soundtrack. They're just doing two series to keep it "tight". Will be interesting to see the American take on it.

Couple of gripes - why is Sam living in that dingy flat* when he could have gone to the bookies and put a whole months earnings on Red Rum in the Grand National and got himself somewhere nicer to live?

In the title sequence we see him squinting at his distorted reflection in the back of the wing mirror of his car - why doesn't he just look at the front of it?

Another stickle - Sam's watch.

'70s digital watches were a joke, lumpy things with red LED displays that required you to press a button to see the time - and '73 is a bit early even for those.

Anybody who gets a close look at Sam's wrist is going to be dead impressed to see the sleek 1990s dual analogue/LCD job that we've seen in a few close-ups.

Is this a plot hole or a clue?

LWAVES

I meant to watch the first season when it was on and missed the pilot so I didn't bother, figuring it was one of those where you need to watch all of it.

Just started watching it now and I absolutely love it. The whole 'What the hell is going on' and is he or isn't he really there is fantastic.

I am really glad that they are keeping it short though. Shows like this can run on way too long and then never get resolved.

The American take on it will be interesting to see. I think it's the type of show that will interest a lot of people on FFF.net

Well gotta hurry and watch the rest so I can catch up before the end of season 2.

COSMICFUGITIVE

This second series is top notch, funny, bizarre, and entertaining stuff. The writers are going out on a high.

What is wrong with Sam Tyler? Did he fall into a coma or did he time travel? Did he do both? Is he alive or dead, or in some kind of weird limbo?

This show has so many unanswered questions. In that regard, it is similar to Lost, but the writers are wise to wrap things up instead of dragging it out for 5 years. The quality is so much better for it..

I loved the episode last night. I thought that ep 2 (of series 2) was my all time favourite so far, but it keeps getting better each week!

Gene Hunt is one of my favourite characters. His one liners are laugh out loud, and he is just the epitome of a 70s copper (like The Sweeney.)

The dialogue is sharp and witty and filled with references to the 70s. There was a really great quote from last night that cracked me up:

Select to view spoiler:

Gene: How do you think I spend my time here, Tyler?
Sam: Building a Death Star?

Such a classic line.

Also, I forget the actual quote, but Gene and Sam are arguing on the case. Sam talks about going by his instinct. In response, Gene threatens to charge his instinct with wasting police time.

There should be more tv shows like this out there. It is worth a look!

CITIZEN

Is anyone else getting the whole 'use your intuition' thing running through the whole show, it was there in the first episode and it's just getting more pronounced.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!
No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.
