CYBERSNARK

Opening a new thread to keep things organized. The movie's CGI designs and news bytes go over here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=8&t=23261 or maybe here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=8&t=25448

This thread will be about the toys.

(For those who don't know, toys usually have two prototypes: the actual "prototype," made in drab primer-coloured plastic to make sure the transformation works and the molds are good, and the "test-shot," made in the actual plastic colours of the final toy, but unpainted [to make sure the plastic will hold its form and not break in ways that'll get the toymakers sued]. Prototypes are non-final, and may end up completely redesigned. Test shots tend to be more authoritative as to what the final toy will look like.)

We've already seen protos for Blackout and Starscream:

We just got looks at the alt-mode prototypes for a few of the movie line toys (swiped from here: http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19479&st=0&gopid=40
7695
& --these are on my Photobucket because I don't like Imageshack's unkillable popups).

Here's old-mode Bumblebee:

From the character design seen in the other thread, we can assume that his upgrade (a 2007 Camaro) has the same transformation, just a remolded outer hull.

Here's Jazz, looking stylish even unpainted:

And Brawl, the tank:

Barricade, the Decepticon cop:

And here's Scorponok, seeming to prove that he'll be non-transforming:

There's also this guy, who is identified as Bonecrusher, but doesn't look a thing like the "Buffalo" minesweeper that we know is 'Crusher's alt-mode. I'm guessing he's a mis-named non-movie character to pad out the line:

There's also been talk of a bunch of role-play Transformers who don't seem to tie into the movie's aesthetic. This guy may be from another line entirely:

Holy flirking schnit!! Think that 1st post takes up enough space???

( He asks, rhetorically )

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

TRAVELER

I remember my friend's boys used to play with transformers. Now their adults. These guys have been around a long time.

I saw a trailer for the movie, but I forgot when it was suppose to come out. I typically live in the dark and miss just about everything that happens outside my apartment. Need to get out more.

I imagine the toys will be ready for Christmas.

In my youth it was Gunsmoke and Paladin. Everybody was either a marshal or an outlaw.

GI Joe Greatest American Hero. One Joe could take on an army of transformers no sweat come on.
I think this new movie comes right in time for Xmas there coming from Mars. GI Joe guns, knives, boots, dog tags, and kung fu grip. I know my dog hated him. In the backyard jungle Bruce was king kong and had to be eliminated.

Hey a tussel.

Movie and toys come out next year. Aiming for the big 4th of July weekend opening (yeah, "summer blockbuster" territory, but there are some half-decent "fun" writers attached to this project --like the guy who did Dodgeball).

This Christmas' toys are the "Classics" line, which marks the first time there's been a toyline without any fiction backing it up (no cartoon, no comics, no novels, no nothing).

(And yeah, they've been around for a while; 2005 was the 20th anniversary.)

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Looking forward to the toy line. I still have a huge collection of Transformers, some still in the box. My son has most of them in his room now and collects some of the newer lines. These new toys look pretty cool so far. Not liking Scorpinok too much & if he is non-transformable, forget it.

I am almost afraid to see how Optimus and Megatron turn out.
