Woman, you are completely off your nut.

Ok, I don't know if anyone remembers this show at all, (hell, I'm shocked I do) but there was this show that was on in 1993 called Space Rangers that was LITTERALLY on for about 6 espisodes before it was canceled. My dad and I really liked it just because at the time it was a really unique show. I found the series on DVD online, but it's only region 2 so I'm gonna have to wait for the region 1 version, if there ever will be one. Has anyone ever heard of it or *gasp* seen it? This is a pic of the crew...

MISSTRESSAHARA

Yes, I watched it and loved it. It was unconventional and like a certain sci fi show it steered away from a perfect Earth future. I never watched Babylon5 but I kind of remember it being dark like that. And I DO remember that they did the same strange thing with this series as they did in FF in that they showed the pilot not first. I think they showed it second when my favorite character the assasin or soldier played by the asian actor, was first introduced in a rather unique way. It was confusing seeing him introduced AFTER I already saw him interacting with the other actors. Seems Firefly wasn't the first to have their pilot screwed around with. It was too bad, I really liked the show and saw it had potential. Thanks for poking my memory Roxy.

If I'm a bitch, then life just got interesting

Yep, watched it, loved it, and when I saw the one single badly-run promo for Firefly, saw an immediate similarity and thus piqued my interest.

CBS made the critical mistake of premering it opposite premiere eps of Babylon 5 and DS9 - and it never really stood a chance.

The universe is NOT clean and orderly, nor are human beings, and neither of those things are likely to change.

You show me a clean engineer, and i'll show you an incompetent that ain't done his job!

Yay! Someone remembers! I remember it being very out of the ordinary and dark. Babylon5 just never did it for me either. Your right Fremdfirma, it didn't stand a chance. :( I remember there being these awesome monsters called Banshees that scared the crap outta me. Watch I'll get the DVD and it'll be nothing, lol! Thanks for walking down memory lane with me guys! We all well know that canceled shows need their due.

DATALESS

I've said this before but there is a way to Make any region DVDs any region or even non-region DVDs. http://www.dvdshrink.org/ is free and will copy DVDs from other region to a new DVDr playable in any DVD player. So why wait. Just get the show and then burn it to a DVDr. I've copied a few movies and TV show Disc and I never had a problem with them working in any DVD player.

It was a cool show. I don't remember much about it but I Do remember Linda Hunt (the short weird voice woman) was large and in charge.

TRAVELER

I remember this one. The tall blonde woman was the pilot. There was an alien race they were at war with. That is about all I can think of off the top of my head. I think Ron Howard's brother was also in this.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Yep saw all the episodes on CBS years ago. Sci Fi reaired them back around 2000 I think and I taped them. Pretty good show. Too bad it didn't last.

Traveler, yep Ron Howard's brother was in the show. That I do remember.

Dataless, thanks for the info. I'll look into it.

I'm really surprised there are this many people that even remember slightly. I thought I'd get one person saying "I vaguely remember something...". I really hope I can get the DVD's. I might just even get the tapes. I'm really curious to see if my memory matches what it really is.

Boy, I hadn't realized who-all was involved in this show!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106144/fullcredits

The writing team featured...

Jay Roach (Director of all three Austin Powers movies)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005366/

Gregory Widen (creator of Highlander and writer of Backdraft)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0927074/

Many on the production team went on to produce "The Outer Limits"!

I was gonna make a comment about how funny it was that some of you mentioned Babylon 5 in a somewhat less-than-reverent manner, seeing as how three of the cast members had roles in some of my favorite B5 eps, but, alas, it turned out to be only two...

Marjorie Monaghan (JoJo) played 'Number One', leader of the Mars Underground.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0597493/

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Zylyn), played Garibaldi's bomb expert, Morishi.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0846480/

I was sure that Jack McGee (Doc) had played Mack in the B5 ep "A View From The Gallery", but when I checked IMDb I couldn't find his credit!
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0569079/

Then I looked at the IMDb listing for the B5 ep, and found that the actor's name was Raymond O'Connor.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0640486/

Anybody else see a resemblance?
(BTW, they both had roles on Buffy)
