Remember the thread about getting your very own brown coat? Remember the link to that Australian clothing website with the brown coats made of "oilskin"? Well I got to try one on yesterday, I eyed it in the window of a western clothing outlet. Let me just say, it was an awesome jacket. No water or nothin gettin in there. And, aside from the length, it's just like Mal's. Another thing, anyone notice that the black officer in safe is wearing the actual oilskin coat? Just thought I'd share this with ya.

So did you buy it? I wanted one, but got a tan trench coat instead. Actually, I wanted the tan trench coat more than the duster. (Firefly wasn't even a concept then, and I was big into Blade Runner. Still am actually. )


Who was the clothing designer for Firefly? Couldn't we write to her and get the specs or the skinny on Mal's coat? The sooner the better. I read about fans inquiring about Indiana Jones' hat almost 20 years after Raiders. Want to talk about a cold trail...

It might be a coat that is "easy" to come by.

you know they specially make Deckards coat from BR? I'll have to ask my friend who makes it, but I know it's some big suit company. I didn't buy the coat, heh I live in florida. Other than keepin the rain out, there's no need for me to be wearin a huge heavy jacket in 95+ degree heat. Although there is the general Malcolm Reynolds cool factor....

I don't know if the company is up and running now. I'll have to check. Besides, I like my trenchcoat. It gives me a Blade Runner flavor without going over the edge. Although, if Deckard's trenchcoat were reasonably priced...

TrenchCo is out of business. Their successor (AbbyShot) has a number of trench coats but has not made Deckards though it is in the planning stages.
