America loves a winner!

Had a coupon to rent a DVD for free, so I decided to waste it on a movie I've already seen in the theatre. Smart move, huh? I'll likely end up owning it, but I wanted to see it again, NOW, as I've been heavily influenced by the TV marketing.

the 10 DELETED scenes probably aren't all that big a deal, but I am curious as to the 3 'different' endings. How different? This should be interesting. I hope.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

It was good, but I'm surprised you would like it, AU, given it's 'bad-guys-in-government' mentality.

I've read the different X-Men comics and I am not used to seeing them so young. Rogue is much older now. So I felt kind of lost watching this last movie. Someone told me I should have stayed for the credits because they had a surprize in it. So I guess I missed out on what is coming next.

That you did, the clip after the trailer is only about 10 seconds long, but, it is fairly important. Make sure you paid close attention during the movie though.

Hello FWBBrowncoat:

I will have to rent it now and watch the end. I very occasionally stay to watch the credits. Only when the theater is so crowded you might as well sit and wait for the crowd to clear.

Thank you for verifing that for me.

I didn't like this one as much as the others. It seemed to try to cram too much action and drama into seemingly random moments. The god of momentum would not have been pleased had my opinion counted. Better than a lot of things, but not as good as a number of others. I liked seeing Colossus though. He's one of my favorite characters, but I wondered why they didn't have his Russian accent. Anyways, go see it, it was good, but don't miss the other two.

I liked 3, but face it, it was a mess.
2 was a mess also, just a more coherent mess.
1 was the only great one IMO.

BLACKOUTNIGHTS

The only thing that I really had a problem with in X3 was

the death of Cyclops. Not so much the he died as the relatively little attention that was paid to it.

I consider X2 to be one of the best superhero movies yet (along with Batman Begins and Spider-Man 2). I thought X1 was good, but about 30 minutes shorter than it should have been (due in large part to a budget and scedule cut just as production started).

I liked 3, but found it very frustrating. Lots of cool ideas introduced, none of them explored very well. As someone said above, just too much crammed-in.

That, and I felt the last scenes (the one just before the credits, and the one after) were a total cop-out, leaving them a way to reverse two of the most signifigant events in the film/franchise.

Yeah, I gotta agree. It's like they put in just enough to kinda sorta give the viewer and idea of all the sub plots which were going on, but mostly left them alone to get to the end.

Oh, I'm full of surprises.

Yeah, I did kinda have to grit my teeth while they worked in 'Homeland Security' while equating Magneto to OBL. Never mind that Magneto overlooked the fact he initiated violence when attacking the convoy, yet when the guard shot at him ( with a non lethal weapon ), he then tries to claim HUMANS drew first blood. So that justified any/ all manner of violence and destruction.

wtf ?

I found that a bit much.

( Even worse was the BSG premier, but I'll save that for another thread )

Didn't really care for 3 that much, not too big of a fan of the first 2 anyhow.

I'd rather spend some more money on firefly.

Good point.

And when Magneto said the mutants WERE the cure, I heard that stallone quote from Cobra in my head...

Magneto is sounding rather Aryan Supremacy and Master Race like, don't you think? Mabye he should reflect upon that serial number on his arm again before he goes all judgemental.

I Think I'm gonna stick with the DC/Warner Brothers movies. Superman Returns rocked, and of Course with Joss doing Wonder Woman were going to be in good hands.

I really couldn't stand X3. To me, it felt like it was written, and directed by an angry 15 year old kid. I went through that phase, and If I seen this movie then, it would have been the coolest movie ever.
I'm not going to get into all the negatives of X3 but I will say that Fantastic 4, The Punisher, Blade 3, and Elektra were all much better Marvel movies.
In other words I'm done with Marvel movies. At least until they make....The Avengers.

I liked Daredevil (Director's cut ONLY) a whole lot. Not sure about Elektra, though...

I thought X3 was a lot of fun, but that is about as far as I would take it. What I disliked about the movie was the liberties taken with the original storyline.........where was Apocalypse, the orginator of the "cure"? That sort of wrecked the story of it all for me.

Still, as I said, it was fun to watch, perhaps not as well thought out as 1, or as well played as 2, but still well worth the price of admission.

Not every movie is going to have it all, they won't all be BDM-quality, but I could think of worse places to drop my Jackson than on X3.

Personally as a HUGE Dark Phoenix fan I was kinda disappointed. They should have just focused on her or just the cure. But what really pissed me off was

Select to view spoiler:

when Rogue got the cure for Bobby and AND they had an ending where she came back and was like "I couldn't do it, this is me". Way to lower the glass ceiling.
