There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I've completed viewing all the bonus materials on Disc 7 of the Lost Season 2 dvds, all except a section titled "Lost Connections." For those who haven't heard about it or haven't seen the dvds yet, what it involves is tv monitors connected to each other with a various number of cables, depending on how many connections a particular character had with others before the crash. Since Jack was the first character we saw in the pilot episode it begins with him. You select a particular cable leading from his monitor and it takes you to others and a short clip is played which shows the previous connection. The character that seems to have the most connections (as far as I've discovered anyway) is Hurley.

I am sure that most avid fans of the series noticed the connection between Jack and Sawyer (Sawyer boozing it up with Jack's dad in an Australian bar) or Jack and Shannon (the auto accident which brought Sarah into Jack's life is the same one that claimed the life of Shannon's father).

But today's trivia challenge is for you to tell me connections that involve minor background players (ie, not on the island) that tie two of the Lostaways together. Specifically:

Identify the character that had an interaction between both Hurley and Locke.

Ditto for the one who had a connection with both Hurley and Sawyer.

PLEASE NOTE: As far as I know these two minor characters are not on the island, at least I haven't noticed any indication of it yet, but that of course might change in upcoming episodes.

I *think* Hurley was Locke's boss. Or at least owned the box factory where Locke worked.

I'll have to ponder the Hurley/Sawyer one some more...

Close, but no cigar on your first guess DTH.

The question is which other character connected them.

Um... was it Hurley's boss from the Chicken place? Did he show up as Locke's boss too?

Randy was Hurley's boss at the chicken place, and Locke's boss at the box company.

The girl Sawyer brought back to his hotel room when Hibs was there to tell him he'd found the 'real' Sawyer was also the girl reading off the winning lotto #'s on TV.

Correctamundo!

In the third episode of the first season, the guy who taunted Locke about the Walkabout is the same one (sans the mustache and goatee) who was Hurley's boss at Mr. Cluck.

Groo posted as I was composing my last one.

He is also correct, and I believe her name is Mary Jo.

Okay, here's (an easy) one: what's the connection between Locke and Sayid?

Kate's 'father' was one of the soldiers interrogating Sayid during Desert Storm.

How about Kate and Sawyer?

Sawyer was once a customer at the restaurant where Kate's mother was a waitress.

Kelvin Inman (played by Clancy Brown) was the special forces officer who got Sayid to interrogate his commanding officer, and he was Desmond's partner in the hatch.

The phony 'psychic'.

Just got Disc 7 from Netflix late this afternoon. Only had time to mess around with the Connections section a little, but I just seem to keep going around and around with the same characters: Jack, Jack's dad, Hurley, Shannon, Boone, and a couple others. Hard to remember what cable you just came from...

My strategy has been to follow all the leads from one character, then returning until all that characters connections have been explored, then repeating it with the next one. Trouble is, there are times when it moves too quickly and I lose track of which cable led into the monitor, so when I try to go back I'm taken to another character rather than the one I thought I was going back to. Another problem is that some of the cables duplicate the same connection. For instance, there are at least two cables that lead from Jack to Ana Lucia, and the same between Hurley and Libby.

I've played around with it for a total of about four hours over the last two days, and have no idea if I've exhausted all the possibilities yet. A new connection I discovered today led to a screen similar to the computer in the hatch, a monitor with only the one connection leading into it. You have to enter the numbers using your remote, and once all the numbers are entered in the proper sequence, the monitor changes to one that has seven connections. One of them goes back to Desmond, the other six lead you to monitors that demonstrate several different scenes when the numbers were used in the show, such as the safety deposit box where Kate retrieved the toy plane was numbered 1516.

So after messing around with it for awhile, I've decided that I don't like this feature. It was a cool idea, but poorly executed. Specifically, the multiple wires that make the SAME CONNECTION are very annoying. For example, two of Jack's connect to Shannon. Two of Shannon's connect to Boone. Rose has four wires, and THREE of them connect to Bernard! If they were trying to $#@& people off with that, they succeeded.

Oh well, didn't really need it anyway. I think I knew most, if not all, of the connections already...
