About time. That movie has been in development hell forever. Did the game ever come out?

I think the game came out pretty quickly following the original novel. In 2000? But it sucked bad. I am hoping that they would do a better game this time around.

The book was awesome... I really hope they don't give it the Congo/Jurassic Park: The Lost World treatment, IE turn it into a steaming pile of feces. That always makes me so mad, when they take great material and somehow ruin the hell out of it.

I'm a little concerned, because they already made the professor the father of one of the other characters, which I don't remember from the book. I hate when they do that.

Yeah, I saw that too. I wonder how they are reconciling the father/son relationship between Chris Hughes and Prof. Johnston? Looks like they also got rid of one of the heavies in the trip back to 1357 too. I think the character Jimmy Gomez is suppose to be the Sue Gomez character.

I wouldn't expect them to be able to squeeze all of the subplots into the movie. One thing I do really want them to leave in are some of the little things about the cultural aspects of the time. Little things like how the 14 century people used the toilet and others that transcends many of the assumptions that we *modern* people make about these *backwards* folks.

I bought the book about a year and a half ago because of the raves of a friend. Couldn't get to it right away. About a month or so ago I'm at the movies, I pass one of those Coming Attractions posters, and what do I see? Michael Crichton's TIMELINE coming Fall 2003.
Stopped me in my tracks! So naturally I dug up the book and have been trying to read it before I'm disappointed by the film.
There's a lot of stuff to cover in the book that I'm sure they'll never get to (or that the Test Audience will axe, or that the studio will axe). It'll be interesting. I just hope it'll be good.

I really, really enjoyed the novel, but I have to imagine that the movie will get the aforementioned "steaming pile" treatment. Poor Crichton's batting zero when it comes to screenplays of his novels.

I saw the trailer (downloaded it from ign.com, I think), and, unfortunately, it looked like Hollywood time travel poop. The basic concept of traveling back to early days has been done so many times that it'd be hard to get the realistic nuances in the novel out on film without making them cliche.

When it comes to time travel to that period, it's hard to top "Army of Darkness."

TEELABROWN

I saw the movie, and I've been meaning to read Timeline, and I thought the movie was pretty cool. My dad, who read Timeline, thought the movie was like most Chrichton movies, it gets the idea. But this was pretty good on details, from what I've heard.

Wow, if you liked the movie. Then you will
most certainly and absolutely be blown away
by the book. I also just got done reading
Crichton's newest novel (been out little
over a year - paperback just came out)
Prey. I say "Bravo".

DITHER

I recently read Prey. Thought it was an interesting idea (ranaway nano technology) but didn't like the story all that much. After the swarms killed the first people you would think they would report it and get more help.
