I wonder if Olmos can get sued for damages? Saying Do Not Watch This is pretty harsh, being a paid employee and all.

I am expecting that the Firefly fans will get screwed just like the Battlestar Galactica fans are. With a revamp of the plot and characters, that change the entire vibe of the show.

My first post should have been more clear. It was kind of you to point that out.

From reading the article, it seems to me that Olmos was given the task of handing out the bad news. Galactica is not going to be like its predessor, and the network was being weasely about explaining it. So Olmos stood up, told fans of the original to not watch, not everyone else.

And I think this will have exactly the effect the suits and producers want. Generate curiosity about the show and boost its ratings. Die hard fans of the original will slam it and hopefully boycott it, generating more curiosity and higher ratings.

Sued? He'll probably get a raise.

Most BSG fans (myself included) knew about the major differences a LONG time ago, when Ron Moore got the project. Olmos is not stating anything that has not been in public domain for near a year. I will watch in the hopes that it is BETTER than the original, as in my opinion the original was pop-corn theater at it's most cheesy, with some elements of greatness. Now that it is more adult it may appeal to a more adult me. We shall see.
Don't get me wrong, I love the old show for what it is, but what it is was absolutely, well, silly at times. There is not one episodes of that series that compares to the worst episode of, say, Firefly, in my opinion. Any worry that Firefly will get the same treatment I feel are unjustified. One, the BSG revival was a doomed failure for 2 decades, and any cast are much older now, with little or no Q rating at all. Firefly is not in that boat. Joss is still as big as ever, and he is alive and well, and behind the supposed picture. I have faith in him (and anything jms does), so I will wait and see.

On Galactica, ditto, wait and see.
