MALICIOUS

I glanced at recent thread titles but didn't see anything related to the new SciFi show "Eureka" so I don't know if it's been discussed yet (any links to exiting threads would be appreciated). I'm going to go out on a limb here and declare that I really liked it. Not LOVE, but really like, perhaps with an option to love (lower case) at a later date.

Firefly=LOVE
Eureka=Really Like, possibly love

I enjoyed the humor and the story line quite a bit--with the exception of the daughter's 'tude.

I laughed out loud when the head brainiac accused the security drone of touching his eye with the eye-dent scan.

Anyone else have an opinion/comment? I'd like to hear it!

Mal-licious

I'm going to add cursing and the hurling about of things to my repertoire.

It has possibilities. I will be watching the next few episodes to see how it goes.

pros:

*the science and fx look decent
*casting looks good
*a pretty good first script

cons:

*The dog catcher character might be over the top (slapstick).
*I am always nervous about a delinquent teen as a featured character

Me too! I will be DVRing and following it. Very good writing, natural comedic and awkward human interchanges between the charactors. Folks not too plastic. Interesting story so far. Not liking the govt angle so much, but I can be won over.

Promising. Very promising.

I really liked it. While I was watching the first episode I kept thinking 'Matt Frewer should be in this', and lo and behold, he comes on screen. The show has potential, let's hope they don't muck it up.

Finally someone disscussed this!! I've been wanting to talk about it for days, but didn't want to bring it into the wrong crowd. It looks like a great show with many possibilities. Firefly is and will always be my first REAL love, but Eureka might just come in as a close second.

Edit: Wow, that came out a lot more wordy than it sounded in my head.

Did any of you see SLiTHER Nathan (Our Captain) Fillion's recent movie?

You know small town. Weird things happen. Leading man is a normal person but a little clumsy.

And there was a scene with a young girl in
a bathtub.

And the daughter's name is Zoe right?

No aliens yet...at least we think???

Liked it. Gonna watch it.

I don't think he is a dog catcher. Maybe weird-experiment-on-the-loose catcher. Why did he fire a dart at a US Marshall? Cause he was supposed to?

And maybe that wasn't a dog.

Well, he said his title was "Biological Containment Specialist" so he probably deals with all kinds of beasties.

I wanted to see it in theaters, but my ride stiffed me, he had other more important things to do (or so he said.) I plan to rent it one day.

Name a teen-aged character that didn't have an attitude.

That being said,

Select to view spoiler:

she was the reason why the Marshal got to Eureka. But in the end, when he went back, she wasn't shown to be around. So, there is a chance that she isn't in the show anymore and in show is back with the mother. We'll have to see.

All in all, this is a good show that has much much much potential to be great. I'd strongly recommend people to catch it (but get the pilot first as it sets things up - duh ). It's one of the few shows on tv today worth watching.

But, if you missed the pilot and it won't be repeated in your area before the next ep (tues I think?), remember, Bit Torrent is your freind.

Eureka Breaks Ratings Record

SCI FI's new original series Eureka garnered the network's highest-ever ratings for a series telecast in its history. The July 18 two-hour premiere got a 3.2 household rating, or more than 4 million viewers. That included 1.9 million aged 25-54 and 1.7 million aged 18-49.

Eureka was the number-one cable program on July 18 in household ratings, in total viewers and in the 25-54 and 18-49 demographics.

Eureka was also the highest-rated and most-watched premiere telecast of a cable original series in Tuesday prime time this year.

Eureka is executive-produced by Andrew Cosby and Jaime Paglia and stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Jordan Hinson, Debrah Farentino and Ed Quinn. It airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I finally watched my tape of the pilot this morning, and it was ok, nothing great. I'll have to watch a few more before I make a final judgement. It airs again today, starting in just a few minutes, 4:30pm Eastern and Pacific time, and again tomorrow night at 11pm E/P.

It's a little funny, the actors in it seem to think it's one of the few shows that are more human driven, which is true, but from the interviews particularly the one with Jordan Hinson they all seem to think it's the first of it's kind. I guess they haven't had time to check out Firefly/Serenity. Or, I could be wrong.

I liked it. I think it needs better editing, felt a little off sometimes.

But the plot was good, characters were good, and I thought that, while Zoe had attitude (and I agree, what teen doesn't?), she at least had the sense of humor to go along with it.

(And gosh doesn't it feel weird typing Zoe and not meaning Gina? )

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I watched it and enjoyed it. I will be watching the next few episodes to see how it holds up. Seems to have some real potential.

Still thrown by the female cop who is former "Army Special Forces". Last I looked SF didn't take female candidates.

MISBEHAVEN

So far, I'm really enjoying the show too. I think I'd also have to place myself in the "like it" category with the potential to "love it". It's one of the better shows on Sci-Fi. Between Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, and Eureka, my sci-fi needs are fairly well met these days; however, I'm still holding out for the possibility that Sci-Fi might make two more Serenity movies as feature films on their channel. I heard that's a rumor, but who knows.

Morbid and creepifying I got no problem with, so long as you do it quiet like.
