Actually have found it but I am a bit confused. What I have come up with is either a totally overpriced import($70+ at amazon) or other imports that will not work on my DVD player.

Was this movie ever mass released in the US? I heard there was going to be a 25th anniversary release last year but apparently that didn't come off as planned.

I need my over the top, visually spectacular sci-fi romp with the Queen powered soundtrack.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would be eternally grateful.

Here you go my man http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=srmr&page=title&r=R2&title=705477

£7.99 from Play which is about $12.00. It's also a special anniversary edition. Play are really good I have purchased many things from Play and they are very reliable. If you have a multi region DVD player that should play no problem. My player will play both NTSC and PAL

Thanks for the link. I did manage to find some sites for the European release as well. Unfortunately I just bought a HD player that is region 1. Since I also purchased a shiny new HDTV along with a few other accessories I really can't justify buying another player just for a couple of imported DVDs.

Just glad they didn't pull the same stunt with the BDM. Oh wait a minute, yes they did! That wonderful Aussie release I keep hearing so much about. Gorram corporate, Blue Sun wannabe, Alliance jackasses!

Anyway, thanks for the response.

There was a Region 1 release a few years (late 90s) back. But there were no extras and the image transfer was pretty bad. It's been out of print for awhile now.

I've always wondered how does one know what Region your DVD is? And what the hell is a Region 1 or 2?

Well the easiest way to tell is what country you bought it from.

Region 1 is north america, Region 2 I think is europe, region 4 Includes at least Austrailia but I'm a bit fuzzy on all of the details. Hey this link should actually sort it out for you, http://jmdistribution.net/dvdregions.htm
