Has anyone noticed that all our DA threads seem to have fallen off the face of the earth! You should be ashamed (particularly you two - chrisisall and Zoot)! Anyway, the day is saved as I am here to start one!
DA pilot vs Serenity (parts 1 & 2)
You know, as a pilot, not the series as a whole.

I'm a quitter. I come from a long line of quitters. It's amazing I'm here at all.

JACQUI

Gotta say Serenity. Can't help it, I'm a sucker for Firefly and the pretty ladies and men therein.

I watched some DA today, though. Haven through to I and I AM a Camera. (yes, house imprisonment makes you do the whacky, including watching four episodes of a tv show in one day).

Even Polo Loco, which I really, really liked the first time I watched it, but this time... I dunno, I was all "Alec?!?!?", when I knew specifically it wasn't him, but still...

Ironic, considering I spent a great part of S2 saying "Ben?!?!?" whenever Alec was on screen.

I started watching S1 a while ago and I'm nearly finished it. This is the second time around I'm viewing the series and I really did like S1 much more than S2. But there was some really good S2 if I recall. Especially the finale, that was very strong.

"And your head's up your..."
"Hey!"

CHRISISALL

Dark Angel's pilot was unusually focused and strong, it hooked me faster than anything else I'd seen before. The characters were well written and understood by the show's creators, and the actors were up to speed immediatly. Serenity had all of these characteristics- plus the pattented Joss wit, so I guess I'm with Jacqui in picking Serenity as the better of the two. But it's a close call.

Sorry, Max

Max + Mal = Chrisisall

Haven's one of my absolute favourites...a small tight, character-driven story, where we see Logan's tough side for the first time. Love the rapport between Max and the kid!!

I and I am Chrisisall

I don't have the heart yet to go back and rewatch Serenity again but I'll still vote for it over DA. Joss created a real universe in less than 2 hours but we won't talk about that now.

Haven was a great episode - Max was so vulnerable and Logan totally stepped up, no pun intended.

Stupid virus, stupid writers, stupid Friday night Fox death slot...

Yeah - although I love DA - I have to say that Serenity is better - especially in the way that it introduces all 9 characters and the main plot in under 2 hours - pretty damn impressive.
I also just love the element Joss brings to everything does - it's funny, sometimes tense - I don't know, it's very atmospheric.
There is still a lot to say for the DA pilot though, it really got me hooked, introducing a nackplot almost as confusing (maybe even more so) than that of Firefly.
Well. I just love them both.
Oh, and I totally agree about Haven - it's a brilliant episode character-development-wise, although the plot's a little confusing (he's dead, he's not, he might soon be..)

Mal+Max = Damn cute babies

*Pathetic fan note*
I'm creating a special case to hold both seasons of DA in, the cardboard things they're in won't take the abuse forever!

How creative Chrisisall
