Have you guys been catching Supernatural? I tivo it, as My Name is Earl is required viewing, but I dig Supernatural as well.

According to Zaptoit.com:

The WB has picked up a full season of its freshman drama "Supernatural," but its reasons for doing so are grounded firmly in the realities of the TV business: The show has performed well in the ratings.

The series, which stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as ghoul-hunting brothers, earned its full-season order after four weeks, during which it has improved on the network's season average in the time period and done a very good job of retaining the audience from its lead-in, "Gilmore Girls."

"'Supernatural' has delivered in a huge way for us," WB Entertainment president David Janollari says. "It's a really cool show that's already hooked millions of viewers and has quickly emerged as one of the most buzzworthy shows of the new season. [Executive producers] Eric Kripke, McG and Bob Singer have done a terrific job executing their vision, and we expect the show to be a long-term player at The WB."
Through its first four weeks on the air, "Supernatural" has drawn an average of 5.3 million viewers -- a slight improvement over what "One Tree Hill" did at 9 p.m. Tuesdays last year. Airing in a brutally competitive timeslot, it's also delivered big gains among male viewers over its female-skewing predecessor.

Additionally, the series has retained better than 90 percent of the "Gilmore Girls" audience (which averages about 5.8 million viewers) and almost as high a percentage of its lead-in's adults 18-49 rating. Tuesday is now The WB's most-watched night.

Definitely look into it. Maybe not Angel-quality, but possibly Dark Angel-quality. You might like it you might not.

I've seen it billed as X-Files meets The Dukes of Hazard (the TV show version, where they were not idiots), but don't let that throw you (in much the same way that Firefly is Star Wars meets Bonanza, so not very accurate).

Good writing, good acting, attention to detail (being a big occult/supernatural fan, I've done research into the "actual" scenarios a lot of these myths are based on --enough to be in on some of the technobabble-ish jargon they throw around [EVP, White Lady, stigmata, magical properties of different materials, etc]). There were occasional bouts of "as you know Bob" dialogue in the last ep, but that might be a writer-specific thing for that episode (credits flashed past too quick for me to catch the name).

Finally! A new show I like that isn't gonna be canceled before the first season is over.
