I discovered an old sci fi show I hadnt seen before called Lexx. Now Lexx is a bit silly but it has some nice eye candy(special effects and females) and shows potential(Ive only seen the first season).

There is a song at the start of the first movie which the Brunnen G sing as they go into battle. This damn song is stuck in my head now, I even edited it out and made an mp3 of it and downloaded the lyrics from a fan site so I can sing along..

Is there anyone else out there who knows what I am talking about? Anyone else like that song?

Yeah, it was a cool song. Lexx was an okay show in its first year (when it was still a set of movies), but after that it went downhill really quickly. I found some amusement in it because if you thought of it, it was like a bad D&D group set in space:

You had the ultra combat twink with no personality. You had the super sex kitten who's probably written/RPed by a man. You've got the guy who's only there to make snarky comments and hit on the female character. You've got the one person with an average character making an effort to RP with that. They go on adventures looking for treasures or sex, often causing lots of damage in their wakes, and if they happen to destroy a village or planet, oops. :)

Well ...

A copy of that song lives on my MP3 playlist, along with a weird electronica version I found once. It sticks in my head, too. I was not getting SciFi channel so I never saw the series, but I own the orignal 4 movies on VHS.

They were rather fascinating, and fun. And I have to admit a bit of eye candy for me as well, all things considered.

Ehh, I didn't really care to look it up to get it exactly right, it's all made up words anyway and when I listened to it, years ago, no one had bothered to write out and post the lyrics. ;).

I'd disagree with the posted spelling anyway as they don't capture the sound of the words either (although admittedly, neither did I in places).

First season of Lexx was 4 films weird, strange, sexy, dark twisted humor but not everyone's taste
2nd season it turned into series,
The films had guest starts Rutger Hauer, Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick, Malcolm Mcdowell and Ellen Dubin
Lexx used to be on the Sci-Fi network.

I'm midway through the second season now. I like the new Xev, she is a hottie.

They all seem to speak with an accent (scandinavian?).

Its not the sort of show I can watch too many episodes consecutively. An episode here and there is fine though. I like the naked hotties.

DREAMTROVE

Lexx is one of the classics. I have the whole thing on DVD. The best part by far is the movies, for weird films as someone said. But overall it's pretty good.

There are times when, yes, sadly, it becomes boring and predictable, but once you get over the foibles such as everyone always dies, you get used to it. Particularly towards the very end of the series I get quite sick of the robot head, and somewhere in the middle I got very sick of Stan.

Story arcs are good and naked women are nice to have.

BTW, they are German. It's a join Canadian-German production with some German special effects house and some Canadian live production team, and the cast is generally split 50/50. One of the weird disorienting elements is that characters with Canadian and German accents are mixed together randomly as if it didn't matter. Canadian fathers with German daughters and the like, constant random association.

For those who haven't seen the show, here's a straight up test that will tell you if you would like it.

Ask yourself as you sit there watching firefly if you wish that they would spend more time with the reavers. If the answer is yes, you will like lexx. If the answer is no way, then lexx probably isn't for you.

Yeah I love that song, thank you for getting it back in my head. I actually have the soundtrack for the TV show at home, I'm gonna have to dig it out now. I wish the scifi channel would start running Lexx again there are still some episodes I haven't seen.

GIXXER

Old Xev seemed to have an inexhaustible supply of makeup. Always wore lots of it but was so very pretty, she got away with it. That rarely, if ever, works.

New Xev was hottish, but looked like she had a drug and cosmetic surgery problem. Gaunt, with those BIG silicone rubber Lips.

Robot Head and Stan were really, really annoying.

Kai was cool, and pretty much the baddest in the 'verse, but every time he returned to his fridge, I got Spinal Tap flashbacks.

Good on the casual wholesale destruction front. The SFX were weirdly eccentric, but good. Some quite racy stuff. Good sense of corruption and decay. Very decadent. Protein exudates for food were well gross. Everyone should have a live bug helicopter.

G

Favourite bit, some backstory about an ancient race, the last of whom were in suspended animation pods wondering space for centuries. The proximity of an approaching ship signals the pod to rouse the occupant

Select to view spoiler:

He wakes up to greet the approaching Lexx which, about 2 seconds later, runs him over at high speed and proceeds without ever noticing a thing. You have to laugh, really...

I love that song! Its my nephews' lullabye. What you need to find the mp3/wav of Kai singing a psuedo-irish version of the song in one particularly weird ep. The author of the page I found it on describe him as having "a voice like an ashtray" and he couldn't have been more right.

Hehe, they were in NewFoundLand (stans new kingdom) during that ep. Stans alter ego had his way with Bunny that episode too. Ahh.. Bunny.

Yeah I have that version of the Brunnen G song in Mp3 as well.
