I'm always surprised that there isn't a lot of FUTURAMA talk here on the other sci-fi boards. Everyone always talks about ANDROMEDA, ENTERPRISE and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and yet no one really brings up what I think is the paramount sci-fi/comedy ever created. And the parallel's between the two shows are staggering. ("We're exactly the same, right down to the-splegh!!! Is that pink nail polish?";"Is that NOT pink nail polish? The Professor is right. You are evil... and shallow.";"I am not evil." Soory random tangent.)

And like how FIREFLY rose from the ashes to be the phoenix that is SERENITY, a possible revival of FUTURAMA could happen.

Over at www.gotfuturama.com, they've been saying that inside speculation says that there is talk of reviving FUTURAMA as a straight to DVD feature with maybe two more flicks afterwards. And Billy West himself chimed in with these comments.

"Well, I spoke to David X.Cohen because we did promos for a new Futurama compilation and he said that they did have talks with the top guys at FOX and they were extremely impressed with the sales of the Futurama DVDs. The idea was to make a Futurama movie right to DVD and then a 2nd and a 3rd. That's what's being discussed. Fox is trying to figure out a budget for the whole project, and it sounded like David X. was very jazzed!

I would love more than anything to do that show again. I thought it was best experience on every level... creatively, voice-wise, writing, animation and the laughs. The laughs. Writers and performers that respected each other."

Well this tickles me pink just as much as SERENITY. Whose hoping that this'll happen? I miss the crew of Planet Express as much as the crew of Serenity. I'm also wondering what they'll do? I mean, SERENITY had a truckload of unanswered questions. FUTURAMA, on the other hand, pretty much tired everything up really well in the last season. The final ep, "The Devil's Hand's Are Idle Playthings" is one of the best series finales I've seen, and with such a sweet curtain line.

"Please don't stop playing, Fry. I want to hear how it ends."

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

I don't think Futurama would lend itself to movie length very well, although of course I'll take what I can get. I suppose I'd prefer Firefly to come back as a series too, but we all know that ain't happening.

I too am kinda apprehensive as to how a movie-length Futurama would work, but yeah, I'm in too.

Yeah, me too. I have the series dvds, so I'd be interested in anything else that came along - although I'd probably wait to read some reviews to see how well the movie was done.

Why can't FOX just pull a Family Guy with Futurama? It seems that both shows did really well or better than expected with DVD sales. As great as more Futurama would be, I'd prefer it as more episodes rather than three direct to DVD movies.

But I'll take anything I can get. My sister recently bought the entire series on DVD and we watched every episode with commentary. It was a great show and it could have gone on a little longer that it had.

Why can't they just bring the damn show back? Picked up season 2 this weekend - the one season I hadn't yet got on DVD and forgot just how layered the show was.

I can see it working as a movie, or more as a feature length. They could do a Gulliver's Travels and have essentially four stories held together by a through-arc.
