George Lucas has announced the development of two new Star Wars series for tv!

Here's a link to the story:

As long as he leaves the series to other (read: better) writers then I'm fine with it.

He's so full of it saying he never thought of what happened after Return of the Jedi. That's just a blatant lie.

And it has always been the story of Darth Vader. The fact that he was not so high ranking in New Hope was just a clever ploy. I mean, face it, he was Tarkin's administrative assistant! He didn't even rank a chair in the Death Star boardroom!

Any Lucas claims to a consistent plan from the beginning can be countered with the words "Splinter of the Mind's Eye". Published before Empire; drops Han and Chewie from the series and has Luke and Leia travelling the universe in love.

I read "splinter" and don't remember the being in love so much as I remember this... (and I'm trying to remember these lines from 25 years ago already)

a scene where Luke sees a fuzzy wuzzy and doesn't know what it is because, "on tatooine, if it can't eat you, you don't waste time giving it much thought"

another scene where Luke sees a fuzzy wuzzy and knows EXACTLY what it is right off because, "on tatooine, there wasn't much else to do but read books on the flora and fauna of more interesting planets"

I actually wrote a letter to the publisher about this inconsistency. Never got a response.

"I'm gonna rip you a new puppet hole, bitch!"

I'd just chalk that up to the fact that Luke is an idiot (borne out by pretty much every source, both canon and EU).

As for the series, I don't know whether to be interested or alarmed. Can't he just leave the EU alone to do its thing in peace? Or is he upset about the fact that NJO had all the tension, tragedy, and Darkness that his prequels lacked?

I wanna see an entire series dedicated to the character "Porkins", from A NEW HOPE. The series could be a prequel following the ribald adventures of a pilot that just couldn't say no.

I have his action figure in my office. It doesn't even fit in the X-Wing fighter. I keep it as a reminder that even the metabolically challenged can fight the empire.

Wish I still had all my stuff from when I was a kid in the Star Wars fan club. I'm almost positive that he referred to Episodes IV V and VI as the middle stories of a series of nine. Perhaps he didn't have it well mapped out, but it was my understanding that the idea was the first three movies were about the rise of the Empire, the middle three were about the rebellion and the final three were to be about the restoration of the Republic and the Jedi, but I suppose the books have covered so much of that, there is little need for additional movies.
