Haken,

Great site! My name is Dan Kay and I run Just For Fun Films in Los Angeles. I wanted to write to you because Morena Baccarin is staring in our film WAY OFF BROADWAY which opens in LA on Friday March 18. It's a great indy film and Morena is the lead. Fans of Morena's and FIREFLY can meet her at the theater on the opening weekend. She will be doing a Q & A after the two evening screenings on Friday March 18 and Saturday March 19. In addition, she will be available for autographs. The film will be playing at the Laemmle Fairfax theater in Los Angeles. The address is 7907 Beverly Blvd. at the corner of Beverly and Fairfax.

You can read about the film and watch the trailer at www.wayoffbroadwaythemovie.com

I would certainly appreciate it if you could post something on your site to let the fans of FIREFLY know about the film and the opportunity to meet Morena. Also, if it would be possible to set up a link to the film's website that would be fantastic.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. The press release for the film is pasted below.

Cheers,

Dan

“Support Independent Film”
On Friday, March 18, 2005, the independent film, WAY OFF BROADWAY will have its Los Angeles premiere at Laemmle Fairfax. Brazilian born actress, Morena Baccarin, lights up the screen in this wonderful depiction of struggling artists entering a new phase of their lives in New York City. Fans know Baccarin from Joss Whedon's FOX series FIREFLY and the upcoming Universal Studios release SERENITY based on the TV series. First time writer/director Dan Kay has been critically praised for his intelligent writing and cinematic style. Indiewire said "Way Off Broadway is marked by good acting, realistic characters and smart writing", while the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel states, "Way Off Broadway is witty and consistently funny." Produced by Richard Perello (Broken Lizzard's SUPERTROOPERS and CLUB DREAD), WAY OFF BROADWAY has won over a dozen awards and has been an official selection in 30 film festivals. The film also stars Forbes March (MUTANT X), Brad Beyer (SEX AND THE CITY), and Jordan Gelber (Broadway's AVENUE Q). Come support independent film and the dedication of this first time writer/director. Laemmle Fairfax is located at 7907 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. Following the evening screenings on March 18th and 19th there will be a Q&A with Mr. Kay and Ms. Baccarin.

Visit www.wayoffbroadwaythemovie.com for more details on the film.

LA in two weeks. Morena looks absolutely great in the trailer.

Loved the part where

Select to view spoiler:

she's sitting with four guys trying to point herself out on tv... and did I see a semi-nude scene?

Love Morena. Will definitely go to see her movie.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

I put it on my calendar, presuming a start time somewheres betwixt 6 & 8pm. Not a sufficient condition for my attendance; more of a necessary condition.

Parking thereabouts is problematical. But there's plenty of good coffee nearby. I recommend Insomnia, a mile East.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for posting this Haken.

Too bad it is in LA & I am in Virginia. I would love the chance to meet Morena and get her autograph. Guess I will have to wait for Dragon Con since she is confirmed as coming.

I will check out the film when it becomes available for rental.

I'VE SEEN IT! (and I got to meet her. I wrote a nice blog about it)

Anyways, this movie is FANTASTIC!! Everybody needs to see it, regardless of the fact that Morena is in it. (although she is PERFECT in the part.) When I walked into the theater I was initialy a little afraid I would be distracted because I'd be watching Inara, but that wasn't the case at all. I got so sucked into all the charchters and *sigh* it was just fantastic.

I checked the movie's website, and I saw that the movie was playing in April in Cleveland. I'm thinking "Hey, that's only a 5-hour drive for me, I know people there to stay with, I can do this!" Then I see that the Cleveland date was for 2004, gorram it! I'll have to see if they are having any other showings ANYWHERE near me..... Boise, anyone? Duluth? Fort Wayne? Sucks being in the boonies sometimes.

Hey, was the Heart of Gold reference in the trailer a shout-out to firefly fans? Ok, it's a little farfetched, but it's ironic that the screenplay that the agent guy didn't like has the same title as one of the three episodes not aired by Fox. It looks like a fun movie, I'll have to check that out.
