IT'S BEEN TOO LONG! :)
I love the character of Anna Espinosa and always wondered if she'd come back. Gina Torres is brilliant in this role.
J.J Abrams never fails to surprise or disappoint his fans!

Here's the full news report:

Article taken from The Official Alias Magazine issue #8 Jan/Feb 2005.

'Alias fans have been begging for a Gina Torres (Anna Espinosa) comeback. The character sports an infamous Eye of Rambaldi tattoo, '<0>', so her significance to the Rambaldi mystery meant she was always destined to return.
Whilst talking with Alias magazine, J.J Abrams explained, "She's someone that we wanted to have back on the show. She got Firefly while we were doing our second season ... and then she got the Firefly movie [Serenity] in the third season, so she's been busy."
Anna Espinosa makes her explosive return in season four's eighth and ninth episodes, Echoes and A Man Of His Word - which also marks Sark's [David Anders] reappearance!'

Great catch, CosmicFugitive!!! Thanks sooooo much for bringing this to my attention.

I also loved her character. It was the first role I remember seeing Gina Torres in and she was kick ass. Major crush. I've been wracking my brains for the past two years trying to remember if they killed her off or not (I guess I could've just rented the DVDs). I just checked IMDB and they have her listed for the February 9 and February 16 episodes of Alias.

The fact that she was a member of the cast of Firefly definitely went into my deciding to watch the show. And the rest, as they say, is history.

There are three kinds of people: fighters, lovers, and screamers.

Yep, this is good to hear. I remember when Firefly first came on, it took me a while to realize Zoe was played by the same actress who did Anna Espinoza, because they seemed so different.

While I missed her in Alias these last few years (there were a couple places I thought she would have been a natural for inclusion), I wouldn't have had her not be available on anything Firefly related just to do that role. Still, I'm glad to hear she'll be appearing again.

I had to search for this...I knew there had to be a thread about Gina on Alias...
tonight she was raised from the dead
and she kicked @ss!

It is SOOO good to see Gina Torres on TV,
even tho I'm not an Alias fan...

I wish they had a spin off for Anna Espinosa, I would watch THAT!

Not an Alias (mostly 'cause I think its a poor man's La Femme Nikita) but a big Gina Torres fan. Saw most of it tonight, and just let me say, WOW!

Such a departure from Zoe, she's so...glamorous. She looks incredible beautiful. I mean...WOW! One of the miniscule problems I have with Firefly is that I simply think they missed it on her makeup.
Ms. Torres features are sculpted in such a way that a great deal of gloop is not really necessary to bring out her natural beauty. I would have liked to see her more natural on Firefly. On Alias they went a completely different route, but its lovely.

Anyway, thanks posting she'll be on next week. I'll be watching.

So far Gina Torres has been the one really good thing on Alias this year. The season's taken a serious downturn on quality (and even this episode had problems, but at least the two reappearances were fun).

Also was kinda cool when I realized that a number of other guest stars were in the series: One a character actor I've seen in a lot of SF (the only immediate one that comes to mind is an episode of Voyager, though), playing the old man, and another one of the main characters (and in fact the best one) of the short lived SF series Odyssey 5. It was like a big SFapalooza reunion.

Yes,
I watched this last night, though I kept expecting her to call someone Captain. She was great . It's good to see her again. I hope they don't get rid of her character.
After Alias I switched over to CSI: NY and saw none other than Badger. He was really good as a criminal in the world of trade goods. Almost like he had some experience in a role like that.

I was so happy when she returned to Alias. When I watched the episodes last week and last night, I was like "Hey, Gina Torres is back on the show. Cool." I also saw that episode of CSI:NY. When I saw Badger I was like "Who is that?". Then after I heard him speak, I knew right away it was Badger. It's good to see the cast of Firefly on other shows. Who knows, it may boost the popularity of movie. People will be wanting to see these people in other roles. That would be awesome.

Does anyone remember that Gina Torres was on the Hercules tv series? She kicked some ass on that show too as nubian queen Nebula and a love interest for Iolaus. She had a great dynamic with Kevin Sorbo. She also played Cleopatra in an episode of Xena.

yeah, Alias has been up and down lately this year, but the past two episodes have been pretty good.

And Gina can kick some serious butt! A lot of those fight scenes (if you watch closely) are actually Gina and Jennifer Garner going to town on each other. Whoo! And since Anna is connected to the Rambaldi artifact and Syd's sister Nadia, I think we'll be seeing much more of her, especially since Daddy Sloane knows who hurt his little girl. Cooool.

I remember her in Hercules and Xena and agree that she kicked some serious butt!

The wirework that she performed in Cleo 2525 really helped out her career in that she does a lot of her own stunts now. I haven't seen the Alias eps yet but I read there was some wirework involved?

She also appeared in the Hercules ep "Yes Virginia, there is a Hercules" which is set in the present day and funny as hell. (It makes fun of the cast, crew, directors and writers, including Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci who now write for Alias.) I think she appeared as the show's casting director(?).
