Likes to mess with stuffs.

I've been told the official dates for the Starfury: Serenity convention in the UK is from April 29th to May 1st, 2005. Tickets will be available beginning July 5th, 2004.

Please check the Starfury Convention website for detail when it's posted.

Tickets on sale from 10am Monday July 5th.

£70 adults, £30 for 14 and under, under 7s free.

Juts had a thought, does this mean the UK premier will be either April 29th or May 6th? Any guests for the con would probably kill 2 birds with one stone and make the trip for the premier and the convention?

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

AH, Starfury yet again, bound to be good. I hope to go only on the of chance that Joss might show up.

Oh yes and Nathan might be there too.

I would have thought it would tie in with either a premiere or promotional tour.

I believe the organiser was indeed waiting to hear when it would be released in the USA, and Buchanan did mention they would like to get it released everywhere else as soon as possible after, so my guess is it will be out, or premiere will be week before con, official release shortly after, or around that time anyway. I would guess that most of the cast will be going to the Serenity convention, and I know its gonna be fantastic!!! Would be even better if Joss came. See you there!

Excellent news! I have been anxiously waiting to hear when Sean would arrange the convention and hope as many of the cast come over as possible, perhaps kidnapping Joss to make sure we get him to join our BDHs as well. Can't wait to find out where in the UK the venue will be. I went to "Fusion" and loved it and my friend Elaine in North Carolina hopes to fly over especially. This will be a mighty fine shindig folks, lets raise the roof and show them a Big Gorram Welcome! No one has an excuse not to go, you have almost a year to save up your pennies or dimes. See you there!

I am making plans for the WorldCon in Glasgow for Aug of 2005. Two overseas trips in one year might be tough to swing but now I will have to try for it. Sounds nice

Just some info for everyone who's thinking of going to Serenity; get your ticket NOW! They are selling like strawberries in Persephone (see what I did there?)

Oh, and if you're saving up, you might want to take these figures into consideration...

Ticket price with credit card booking £73.00
Thistle hotel cheapest room rate - £57 per night

If the rules are the same as other Starfury conventions, you can get your convention booklet signed for free, but if you want any other items you have to have at least 1 official photo (£10 each available at the event) for each signer.

Example: If you want Alan Tudyk to sign your Knight's Tale poster, you have to buy an Official Fox photo for £10 and get that signed too. But if you only want the autograph, he can sign your free convention booklet.

Any Firefly items must be OFFICIAL i.e. DVD, official photo. You can't print a screencap off the internet or anything like that.

Also, there may be photo session, and these can cost £10-£20 each. (Eg You and Summer on a photo £10, you and Gina and Alan on a photo £20)
The photos are 8x10 and you can collect them during the convention.

So if you want a photo taken with 9 guests, and you want signed pics of them all, it'll cost you £180.00 Plus there will probably be stalls selling merchandise and tons of other stuff to relieve you of your hard earned cash..

Worth the money though, if it may be your only chance to see these guys and have your photos taken with them.

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

So I can't get tickets!
does anyone have another link I could try?!?!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Hmmm......

I would love to go, but a trip across the pond may not be something I can swing. I will check into it though.

Wonder why there are no plans yet for a Serenity/Firefly con of some sort here in the States......

147 tickets were sold by 6pm yesterday and there were still people who hadn't been able to get through. It looks to be a small con, at most 800 tickets. If you haven't got your ticket yet you need to get moving.

Saw this on the Yahoo group for Starfury Conventions:

"Rooms for SERENITY have not been released yet, and will not be until tickets are sent out.

Please do not call up the Thistle Hotel regarding this event until tickets have been dispatched.

I'll post hotel booking details here when the rooms are released, and not sooner.

Please note that any bookings made over the internet will not count in the STARFRY booking, and thus may result in you being transfered
to the overflow hotel if the hotel should sell out."

So Patience All Our Time Will Come

PS I would like to share a large room with another woman. It appears the the Hotel has something like a " Standard,Twin Room,Soundproofed Room,Air Conditioning,Trouser Press,Modem,Seating Area,Desk"

Folks, its a con - room parties and video rooms are the way to go.

Haven't been to a convention since the B5 days (before Wolf 359 went a little *ahem* *cough* *carpet under-brushing*) - am sorely tempted.

Hi!

It's Oct 27th and I still don't get my ticket! What about the room booking? On the official starfury convention web site they say that booking was possible from Monday 9th August!!!

The woods are the only place I can see a clear path.

I asked the same question on the Yahoo Starfury group. Ticket mailings seem to be running slow. But hey we have until April.

Hotel rooms have been available since August. You don't need a ticket to book. Sean left a post on the Starfury site:

'The Thistle Hotel Heathrow will be accepting room bookings from
attendees of STARFURY: SERENITY for the weekend of that event from
Monday 9th August 2004.

Rooms are available for the attendees at a rate of £59:50 B&B per
night for a single room and £77 B&B per night for a twin or a double
room from the nights of Thursday 28th April through to the morning
of Monday 2nd May.

There is a charge of £5 per day for parking.

To book a room you will need to call The Thistle Hotel directly on
0208 759 2400 and ask for group reservations and quote Starfury
Conventions. Please note that you should book by phone and not the
internet, as that could result in you being put in the overflow hotel.'

When I booked my room in August the hotel said there were no family rooms available.

Hi all, I'm all booked for this con except the flight and have delightful news for Dutch fans: Serenity is opening In The Netherlands on may 5th 2005 (our liberation day by the way). I haven't got the info for other European countries yet but I'll keep badgering UIP until I do. I have a contact there, Monica Muns, who is very nice and very helpful. I did ask her about the other European countries but she's not allowed to disclose their opening dates at present.

Yay! I received my ticket in the mail AND I have got my reservations at the Thistle Heathrow..
but I'm a little concerned about this:

£10 seems VERY expensive for an official photo since they normally cost $6 (about £4) here...is there any way we can bring out our own official Fox photos (not downloaded from the internet but bought through official dealers)?

However the photo w/the celebrities sounds like an incredible deal! Those are usually $40 US so I think I'll need to get my picture made with everyone! Do you think we'll get our photos back in time to get THEM autographed in the autograph session? Or is that unlikely?

£10 is a standard cost for photos bought AT events here in the UK. You can buy 10x8's elsewhere (you could certainly get them cheaper that way) and bring them but they are not considered official convention merchandise. They should also feature the correct Fox logo etc. If you bring any item that is not purchased at an event it is counted as a personal item.

You are only entitled to get ONE personal item per guest signed for free, therefore if you had a DVD or a cast photo, you would have to choose which item you used as your personal item. You can purchase up to three photos from the event for signing. If you try to get more than one personal item signed though, you will be asked to leave the auto session and may get no more autos at the event.

Having said that you can get a different personal item signed by each celeb its not just ONE item in total, so you could bring your own official 10x8 of each celeb for signing.

With regard to the shots taken at the photo session, Starfury usually tries, though they don't promise, to get the actor to sign the shot before it is returned to you. It is not always possible to do this, it is an added bonus if they can. This signature will not however be personalised, it will be the actors name nothing more. And as I say, it might not actually get signed at all if Starfury is for any reason pressed for time.
