That may very well be the case in the view of the WB source, but one of the exec producers says WB is putting Wonderfalls on its consideration list for the 2004 fall season. WB is to look at the pilot and one other ep, "Lovesick Ass". Source: Tim Minear.

the rumor is that The WB is picking up Wonderfalls.

The WB MAY pick up Wonderfalls is not a rumor as Bryan Fuller said in his interview on WTAG that The WB is considering it for their Fall Line-Up.

Tim Minear cleared up some stuff that The WB picking up Wonderfalls is a long shot. (from b.org)

anyhoo, we don't need The WB to pick it up, there is a strong interest from cable networks (but one in particular would like to air it as a 'limited series'

my advice though is to not get your hopes high

Perfect example of when "nice" is so much better than "funny".

Here's the long and mostly short of it --

From what I understand, and this is by no means assured, the WB is going to screen an episode of "Wonderfalls" when they screen their pilots. We of course would hope they'd love what see so much that they'd add "Wonderfalls" to their schedule. Unlikely, but that's a dream.

When speaking about "netlet" Bryan [Fuller] was talking about a cable situation, not unlike Bravo picking up Keen Eddie and airing produced episodes. So the chances are fair to good that our 13 will see the light of some day. I'm still angling for a DVD release as well.

That's all I know, and it ain't much.
