Hey Browncoats!

Share why you re-watch Firefly and when you do it. For me I just keep a DVD always in the machine and watch a little bit almost everyday. It always entertains!

STORYMARK

I tend to watch the full run (plus the BDM) about twice a year. Usually in the dead of winter (hmmm, it's about that time) and then at the end of summer, just before school starts up again.

As for other shows, there are a number of others I like to re-watch, but since they all run multiple seasons, there's not enough time to watch them often. Right now I'm re-watching Buffy and Angel. I also like to give Alias, Farscape, Highlander and Babylon 5 a run every couple years.

I too do the full run. These days it's probably about once a year.
I don't like to casually dip in and out of any series, I'd sooner start from the first episode and work my way through, even if I've seen it many times. That goes for the longer seasons as well, although I will usually break them up - for example - I'll watch Buffy S1+2 then do a season or two of something else, then go back and watch Buffy S3+4, and so on etc.

I definitely can't watch just a bit of an episode and then continue it later with another bit. It's the whole episode or nothing. It's part of the reason I record everything and don't watch it live because you can't predict that badly timed phone call or whatever. The same applies to films, however long they are.

The only shows I can watch a singular episode of are ones where I catch them because of a particular guest star. That's the reason I watch them not because I like the show (but it doesn't mean it's a bad show, just that I chose not to invest in it).

I did the series on the run up to xmas, the BDM on xmas day, and have now switched to my back catalogue of Dark Angel (Jessica Alba in black leather, need I say more?) And Kyle XY.

Just out of interest, anyone notice that the really whacked out shows (Dark Angel, Kyle XY, Millenium) are all set in Seattle.

Lately, I've been watching it everyday looking for Carbonite Han.

I rewatch Rome once or twice a year. It's such a visual feast. I wish that show had gone on for a third season.

I rewatch Due South and Forever Knight, too.

When we moved into our new house, I purged by DVD collection of all TV shows besides that that i foresee re-watching periodically:

BUFFY
ANGEL
FIREFLY
DOLLHOUSE
ALIAS
THE SHIELD
PRISON BREAK
STAR WARS: CLONE WARS

Although I don't anticipate watching it again, I've watched CARNIVALE a few times. The HBO shows are good because they're short seasons.

How has TotGM stood the test of time? I loved it as a kid, but haven't seen it since the DVD re-release. I'm a little afraid.

Loved Tales of the Gold Monkey! And The Fantastic Journey (Roddy McDowell was awesome) but as I have neither show on DVD or Blue-ray...

I rewatch,
Firefly,
Battlestar Galactica (The fun one)
Alien anthology
Space: Above and Beyond
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
and then several sports movies,
Bull Durham,
Necessary Roughness,
Major League (yes, all of them)
*61,
Mystery Alaska,
And finally Waterboy.

But NO Buffy although I did recently buy the original movie. Love that campy B movie feel to it.

I was a bit hesitant about rewatching also, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (loved the show as a kid). Probably won't watch it again though.

As far as Firefly goes, I watched the whole run twice last year. Other years it was considerably more.

Right now we're watching Farscape, since I got it for Christmas.

Brisco County Jr, Supernatural and the various Stargates are other favorites in my household.

I will agree with you on all of those shows as excellent, although I don't know that I'd re-watch them. Much as I'd like to do Sargate SG-1 from beginning to end, it's sooooo many episodes! :)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I've seen Firefly so many times I've lost count, but it has been a while because I didn't want to get burned out. I've only seen it once in the past year, when I got it on Blu-Ray. And when I watch it is always the complete series in order, in as short a time as possible, followed by all the extras, then on to Serenity to cap it off. I am sure I will watch it again sometime this year.

Other shows I re-watch frequently:
Wonderfalls
Pushing Daisies
Dead Like Me
Battlestar Galactica (the good one )
Babylon 5
American Gothic
Dark Skies (I have it on DVD-r from downloads, but will be getting the official release in a couple of weeks. YAY! )
Brimstone
Freaks and Geeks
Dresden Files
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Eureka
Spaced
Sports Night
Twin Peaks

Farscape is one I haven't seen in quite a few years, but it will be up at the top of the queue shortly. Just bought it from amazon for $50 and should get it in a couple of days.

But I also never miss a NCIS or Burn Notice Marathon on TV.

Glad I could oblige by getting that out of the way.

Actually, I'm just replying now to see if the new avatar I uploaded is in place. It is something I had emailed to Haken a couple of times on the original site but he never changed mine from the picture of Serenity I chose when I signed up back in '04.

EDIT: And it's not. Also, not sure why it would be River here (the beta site) while Serenity is my avatar on fff.net1.0

I rewatch my Firefly DVDs about once a year. Usually my dad and I watch through them together, though in 09 I watched them with my Browncoat group in this cool home theater system in the basement of a member who has since disappeared, going to his house was so much fun. But yeah, about once a year, and I notice new things/come up with new questions each time.

THESOMNAMBULIST

I usually rewatch Firefly about twice a year, as I have to keep flying in and out of Australia (immigration reasons). To combat the incredibly long flight I converted Firefly to play on my PSP. It's incredibly efficient at burning up time. SERENITY I have on UMD and watch that also during the flight, usually after I've done the series.

Thereafter I find I've probably re-watched Buffy more than any other show, closely followed by Angel, and these I like to enjoy anytime of the year. Buffy I probably watch religiously all the way through at least once a year (skipping season six, bar a few choice epsiodes). With Angel It's usually season One, Three, first half of Four and bits of Five.

Then there's the first season of CHUCK. I can just keep watching season One all the way through, missing nothing. It's just so damn charming.

Wow! I love Due South! Some of the writing was truly witty, and if you weren't paying attention, you would miss it. (The first two seasons had better writing). I didn't think there was anyone out there who remembered it. (It was also a Friday night casualty). I still listen to the soundtrack from Due South.

What is it about a man in red serge? Almost as good as a man in a kilt.

Most of the writing was very witty.
Fans are known as Duesies (or Doosies), and some are here.
First season was actually Thursday, followed by Connie Chung and Chicago Hope. Another channel had shows called something like Mad About You (season 2), Friends (S1), Seinfeld (S5), and later ER (S1) - easy pickins.
With a bunch of Sarah McLachlin, the soundtrack is timeless.
My favorite roles from Beau Starr, Leslie Nielsen, Melina Kanakaredes, Teri Polo, Red Green (as Green Red), Lisa Jakub, Susan Gibney, Wendy Crewson, Christina Cox and others.

Fair to say you've seen Canadian Bacon?

I rewatch all of Firefly once a year. I watch War Stories and Our mrs Reynolds a couple times a year. I also rewatch seasons of Homicide life on the street, Ned and Stacey, and Venture bros a couple times a year. If i had two Guys and A girl on DVD I'd be re watching those as well because it was the funniest series ever made
