I heard on the news today that the Vatican is considering declaring Pope John Paul a Saint. It was announced that a nun recently reported that her Parksinson's disease disappeared after she prayed to him (after he was dead). The announcement went on to say one of the criteria for sainthood is that there is a documented miracle involving a cure from a disease. This is considered a miracle.

I'm not questioning miracles. Wonderful and terrible things occur that occasionally defy explanation. It's my opinion (only) that these event usually have an explanation if we had all the information and facts. So assuming that miracles occur, my question is this. How do we know that Pope John Paul had anything to do with it? Wouldn't it be just as likely that this woman's faith was the actual seminal factor involved in the healing? Or God him(her)self? Just because she prayed to Pope John Paul how does that make him a saint?

Just curious if other folks wondered about this.

I think it's two miracles that have to be performed in someone's name. Then they get beatified, which is like a learner's permit for sainthood. Actual canonization doesn't happen for many years.

Last I heard the Catholics were going to fast-track his sainthood as much as possible.
