Likes to mess with stuffs.

From Amazon.com, the following text appears on the back cover of the Firefly DVD.

Quote:

Five hundred years in the future, there is a whole new frontier, and the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.

I like it! Particularly how it describes "feul in the tank" and "food on the table". Gives a good idea of the western aspects. The mention of Reavers will be benificial to sales when the movie comes out. Maybe they should've detailed that the "passenger" is River, a psychic girl. That would've highlighted the scifi aspects of the show.

Also note, under the DVD description it lists the format as Widescreen but still had Fullscreen under the features...hmmm....

I know they have to describe the show for people who have never seen it, but that description seems kind of underwhelming compared to how wonderful the series actually is!

Hopefully they'll have either Book's or Mal's introductions from the series credits printed on the box somewhere, because I reckon they sum it up better than anything else!

(especially the bit that Book says that starts 'A Captain's job was simple...' which I now can't remember the rest of! - definitely need to watch the series again at the weekend...)

I use that quote as the opening for my computer at work. "...a captains goal was simple, find a crew, find a job, keep flying." It actually puts my work day in perspective. I may not like the job, but it keeps me "flying" and helps take care of my crew.

I ain't doing sommersalts over the written description. I would love to see Mal's intro instead. For the first sentence or two I thought it was gonna be like a STAR WARS description. Plus, it makes it sound like Reavers are the main villian in every eposiode. Just droppin my opinion. But hey it solidifies the fact of the DVD's.

Mal: “See how I'm not punching him? I think I've grown!”

Oh yeah, totally - the fact that there's a DVD to have a description for is so great that any niggles around the detail fade in importance!

And thanks for the quote - I find it really difficult to remember all the cool lines, I need to start writing them down!
