WOO-HOO!

While perhaps not as relevant as a Hugo (its just VFX, after all), this is certainly more high-profile. :D

When the DVDs come out, buy multiple copies. You can send them out as Christmas gifts!

Three episodes of Enterprise I meant not two. And btw have you guys seen the latest spoilers for Enterprise? Just a tad rip off of Firefly.

Congrats to all the fine folk at Firefly!

re Ripoffs: IIRC, this used to happen frequently during Babylon 5 run. DS9/Voyager shows did this shamelessly, borrowing plots and even characters.

Well now, after reading that San Bernardino, Calif. newspaper interview with the SFX dude, we discover this:

Quote -- [Emile Edwin] Smith will be working on the feature film adaptation of "Firefly,'' directed by Joss Whedon and set to go into production early next year."
--End Quote

Hmmm. Things are moving apace on Firefly feature.

That's my favorite part as well. Zoic Studios did an amazing job on a relatively small budget for the show. Imagine what they can do with a little more platinum for a feature film.

YAY! (its a manly yay.....) finally firefly is reconised in some form, has Buffy ever won an emmy? i mean besides make up? guess it goes to show what joss said was right the name of the show really puts off those emmy voters...but lets not dwell on what will never happen and celebrate what did! and also take some time to give fox the finger....sigh happy times...

Check me out on WinMX or eD2k, I have all Firefly episodes in SVCD format including the 3 episodes recently aired on SciFi UK.

Awesome!! Does anyone know if a cancelled series has ever won an Emmy "PostMortem"?

They will learn: Can't take the sky from us!!

Way to go, guys! You were winners with us without the Emmy!

I think both Futurama and Family Guy both picked up Emmys. I'll need to go and double check though.

Okay, went and check out the info at IMDB. Both shows won Emmys in 2002. Doesn't look good for Fox, does it?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I think it is great the Firefly won the Emmy. Amazing how Fox can cancel shows that pick up Emmys before the awards are even won. Guess there is no accounting for taste.

Yes, there have been canceled shows that have won Emmy awards.
The Emmys is not about viewership. They are voted on by members of the Academy ( http://www.emmys.com/membership/index.php).
The cool thing is that your peers honor you.
Take THAT Fox.

Has anyone heard if Joss intends to use the same effects and cinematography crews? I really hope so. They did some really amazing stuff in my opinion. It was subtle, but the innovative lighting and camera techniques had a lot to do with the intimate feel of the series. I'm hoping they retain that for the movie, but I'm concerned that they may feel the need to go with something more 'epic' given that it's a feature film and not a serial drama.
