BENCHCOAT2

I just posted this on another thread, but I thought it'd make a good topic of its own:

A lot of people have said that they plan to see the Firefly movie multiple times when it comes out--in part to boost its profits and demonstrate the demand. Instead of going multilple times ourselves (or as many times), why don't we all buy tickets to give away free to people who might not go see the movie? Many people agree that one of Firefly's biggest problems was lack of promotion by Fox (and perception issues). If more people see the movie, more people will realize how good it is, and it will grow the fan base. Ideally, groups could organize online and raise money prior to the movie opening, buy out whole showings to give away tickets, and make a media event of it to garner additional publicity.

Whaddaya y'all think?

1. If we buy multiple tickets ourselves, we get to see it multiple times ourselves.
2. With the price of movie tickets these days, I think that I would probably end up giving tickets to people I know, but only after I've cleared it with the little Mrs. first, of course.
3. How many movie theaters will need to be bought out and filled up to make it a media spectacle?
4. Could this idea be used as a vehicle for launching the show again, or has Joss completely sworn off of t.v? What would be the aim beyond getting the movie to splash big it's first weekend? A couple of sequels?
5. How do we make it a coordinated effort to appear like a united Browncoated front and not like a handleful of crackpots who have nothing better to do with their money.

(lastly)

6. When/If it becomes a media spectacle, and the news microphone is stuffed in your (general your) face, what will you (general you) say? I'm doing this because I really liked the show, and I want everyone else to like it too? I'm doing this because I want to see the movie make a lot of money, because I really liked the t.v. show? What will be the "statement" we Browncoats are trying to make.

All things worth thinking about I think.

Viva Firefly!
