I remember a particular box, when I was about eight years old; about four feet long, and just the right size and shape in cross section to slide into the knee space of my student desk, expanding its effective length by about a foot and a half. For about a week and a half it was a spaceship escape capsule, Dracula's coffin, the Joker's latest death trap for Batman...
