DOUBLESHINY

Okay, stick with us.

A few of us are going to create a book which chronicles the last year and a bit for all of us, kind of like a yearbook for the end of Firefly and the start of Serenity. It would have your regular yearbook style pages with everyone's name and photo who had the mind to contribute them, but also reports and editorial and pictures of our Shindigs, our big events, the conventions, the mad promotional stuff we got up to and our own memories of the Big Damn Movie and our Big Damn Heroes.

What is going to be integral to this book, are the stories, so if you have a great story, we wanna hear it. Also, the yearbook section will be a major part of the book.

This is the important part - this book will belong to ALL BROWNCOATS, it isn't a private project which will benefit some more than others. If you want to contribute IN ANY WAY, just email browncoatbook@gmail.com and tell us what you're thinking - it could be a testimonial for Firefly, tales of the BDHs, your personal review of a Shindig, a photograph, a drawing, or anything else of interest. Most of all, we want you to be inthe book as your own yearbook entry, which will be a photo, name, username, short comment and a space for a signature, so that book owners can have the Browncoats they know and meet sign their copy.

The book will be 200 pages and will cost about $15. It will be available to buy online, hopefully by the end of January, as we want to include all the Christmas Shindigs, Big Damn Flanvention, Serenity 2 etc.

We have already had offers of help from editing to illustrating, design and content, whatever you can offer, please let us know.

The email again - browncoatbook@gmail.com, you can reply here, (and please keep this bumped) but please also email because it may get hard to keep track of the posts.

So what are you waiting for? I want no excuses for not being involved!

I'm on board. I'll get a good pic of my wife & I in our costumes, since we went to a later showing & not many folk got to see how hottie my wife looked in her Kaylee coveralls.

Plus I could add our conversion story.

I'll gladly lend my proofreading/copywriting talents, if you need/want 'em.

Also a picture, once I get a half-decent one.

Like the idea.

However, I just gotta point out that Book was not a Browncoat. In fact, I think he was with the Alliance....

SBOOG

Oh, I will have to fire up something about the Firefly marathon. The week before the BDM came out, an indie theater in Boston arranged a marathon of all the episodes. It went from midnight friday to noon saturday. There was trivia for prizes and all you can eat chinese food. Besides a few Jayne hats my friend and I were the only ones in costume (gray suits and blue gloves). It was awesome. When the theme first came on, everyone was belting it out.

Ooh! Awesome story. I vote that one goes in!

My story is really long. I posted about it in a different thread... can't remember which one...

But basically, I hadn't heard much of anything about the show, just basically that it existed. And then SciFi started showing it on TV as a promotion for Serenity.

Within 9 weeks I was obsessively hooked and spending a good chunk of money on Firefly/Serenity stuff.

Ah, the power of getting Fridays off and it being nicely scheduled right in front of their hit Stargate (which I also watch). Nice to see SciFi making up for their Earthsea debacle... :P

Though I also converted my mom. Oktoberfest in our area turned out to be a bust, but mom still felt good that day and wanted to do something... it was too late for the zoo, so we agreed on a movie. I made sure (I'm guilty of this, I admit!) to make all of the other movies sound boring, depressing, or really lame, and hyped Serenity a whole bunch and so we went up to the ticket booth... and there was a showing that started EXACTLY the same time as we had gotten there! Actually, a couple of minutes before that... but anyway, so we got our tickets, and we went in...

And we had an absolute blast.

And since my DVD box set arrived a few days ago, I finally got around to watching it this past couple of days (my god, the original series opener... so... damn... good. Bushwhacked... so... damn... good!). Since Stargate was in reruns and Firefly wasn't showing tonight on SciFi (it was Day of The Dead and some other horror movie after that, probably because it's Halloween weekend), I played the (original, not the one Fox decided to air first) series opener for her, and part of "The Train Job". She loved it, and on the majority of funny bits, she was laughing like crazy! She officially... well, she likes it. I only hope I can convince her to get me some Firefly/Serenity stuff for Christmas.

I guess you could put me in, if you wanted. My real name's Jamie. I became a Browncoat within the past few weeks, actually. Hard not to when the show's just so damn good!
