Now, maybe I shouldn't even be posting this here but a try can do no harm...*sigh* My friend (she doesn't have one so she isn't exactly familiar with it) convinced me to do this freckin' profile (livejournal) but the problem is that the sidebar isn't even showing, even if I saw it in the layout and obviously niether are the tags (though I did those as well) and stuff... and that's not all!

I tried to post a fanfic by doing an entry but it shows the whole damn thing! Not that sort of like form. When I read fanfics, the link had this '.html#cutid' thing. How do you do it?

Can anyone help me please?

I can't help with the profile - I'm pretty clueless myself. But the way to make the whole fic not show is to use an lj-cut. Use these tags at the beginning and end:

[leftpointy]lj-cut text="Fanfic Title"[rightpointy]

All your fic is in here

[leftpointy]/lj-cut[rightpointy]

Of course the pointys are < and >, but I don't think I can type them in here and have them show.

I'm curious to hear more profile stuff from those who actually know...

It might be worth going to your profile page and typing the name of the layout in the search with "interests" selected, I found some very helpful communities that way and managed to customise most of my page despite being an html ignoramus.

Not entirely sure about the sidebar situation, as far as I remember I finally picked an "expressive" layout because it gave me the sidebars with tags where I wanted them.

Good luck, if you need any more help give me a shout.

When you post to the community, you need to use an html link. Below is an example from my stuff... but don't take it from what you're seeing posted right now. Hit reply with quote (when you're logged on) and you'll see all the formatting.
