Cry Baby Cry. Make Your Mama Sigh.

Just realized that Jubal Early was a real person from history. He served under Stonewall Jackson during the American Civil War. I thought his name sounded familiar, but didn't research it. However his name is mentioned in the book "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer". So I check it and sure enough, a real person from history.

Someone may have already posted on this. But there is no search option (that I could find) in the discussion threads. **Note to webmaster - add search option**

There actually is a limited search on site, but I had to dig around to find it. According to Haken (the webmaster), it only returns the top 50 results: http://www.fireflyfans.net/search.aspx.

As for me, I rely on Google to search for stuff here. If you type site:fireflyfans.net in the search bar, you restrict your results to only FFF.NET. If you want to make it specific to the forums, you use site:fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx instead. Then, you'd search as usual.

Example:

Alternately, you could just search firefly jubal early. The first three results I got all mention the connection between Jubals.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jubal_Early
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Firefly_characters
http://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/Jubal_Early

And, in general, given that Firefly finished airing almost ten years ago, most of us here at FFF.NET have pretty much analyzed the show to death, which is why the forums aren't very active anymore (save Real World Discussions). So yes, we are all pretty much aware that there was a historical Jubal Early. In addition, we also know that Nathan Fillion says he's a descendant of Jubal Early, and it was actually because of that connection that Joss Whedon named the character in the show Jubal Early.

P.S. Some friendly advice - you're coming off a bit rude here, demanding that the webmaster do something in your very first post. Might want to wait until you actually know how things work around here before you ask somebody to change their website for you.

Some people juggle geese!

I start giggling whenever I hear that name, just because it comes off so ironic in Norwegian. It's so similar to the word "jubel" which means "cheer" :)

Thanks for the info on how to search here. I've had an acct here for sometime. Just don't post. Probably won't ever again. Don't really care for having my post being attacked - which you did. If anyone is being rude, it's you. You assume a lot about someone's knowledge, experience. And when you assume... Well, you know the rest.

Nathan Fillion once mentioned that one of his ancestors was Jubal Early. Many southern families went to Mexico and Canada after the war.

I have to side with MRS AX on this one, I didn't get rude vibes from the post. Feel free to still post here if you want, just ignore rude people.

Sorry for reading more into the post than what was there and saying you were rude, MRSAX. I'll just go back to leaving these sorts of newbie-ish posts to people who are nicer and more patient.

Its easy to misunderstand people on the Internet, since you can't see their face or hear their voice, sometimes you just don't know.

EBFIDDLER

One summer in college, I worked in Washington, D.C., at a place that was located on the site of a little-known Civil War battlefield. (Battle of Fort Stevens, anyone?) The boss's boss was a Civil War buff and one day he gave a lunch-time talk about the battle, which all us employees attended, of course. The Confederate and the Union troops battled it out, and Abraham Lincoln himself came out to see what was going on, the battle being conveniently(?) close to the White House. It seems that Jubal Early led some of the Confederate troops in a big flanking maneuver, crossing the Potomac River upstream and attempting to take Fort Stevens from the north via the road that I commuted to work on each morning. However, by the time Early's troops arrived, the battle was pretty much already over. In fact, Early was Late.

Nice to read the responses about Jubal. Funny that he was late (and not Early) to the battle. Reminds me of the Commander McBragg cartoons that always ended with some horrible pun :)

We do discuss Firefly a lot, actually. Someone wants to post a what if scenario thread or character interpretations or episode discussions, everyone gets into those.

JONGSSTRAW

I get a big kick out of seeing Early (Richard Brooks) on the old reruns of Law and Order. Every now and then you can spot a body movement or a speech pattern that makes you think about Early. He had a serious flat-top do back then which is also pretty hi-larious.

Just saw him in Elementary this past Thursday. Both antagonist and cop.
Always nice to see more of him.

I just happened to watch that episode (Objects in Space) again last night by chance, then I read your post today! This is new info for me, so I just wanted to say thanx. It was such a brilliant script for one episode, and the one-liners for this character made its own history! You have to give credit to The Doc for keeping his composure under pressure outside of his normal disposition! Again, newbees like me appreciate these threads! Keeps things shiny, u know?

And you were aware Nathan is a blood relative of Jubal?

No, this was news to me! That's why it's fun to keep these discussions going, even though they've been going on for 13 years! I watched Firefly for the first time in 2012! Netflix keeps things fresh!
