I could have sworn there was more of a post the last time I looked in here. Anyway, yes the subject of lines has come up here a few times. No good reason not to bring it up again though.

My favorite line is one of Zoe's, "If they take the ship they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skin into their clothes. And if we're very lucky they'll do it in that order." Not very many situations in which that is usefull in everyday conversation which is what I remember the gist of your post was originally about. In conversation I mostly just use gorrammit and shiny.

PEACEKEEPER

Keeping order in every verse

War Stories for me where Mal is fighting Nishka's henchman.Zoe says "I think this is something the captain has to work out for himself". Mal replies through the onslaught "no I dont". Zoe----"OH" and starts shooting. Sounds better on the episode I know. Just found it hilarious.

Funny how different scenes/lines strike different BCs different ways. That scene is hands down my least favorite. Absolutely cringe whenever I see it. But, hey - that's me. Glad it works for you, PK.

One of my favorite lines comes from Serenity, where Mal and Jayne are discussing terms with Fanty and Mingo. At one point Jayne says, "'Forty percent' my muscular buttocks!" Not sure I've ever seen that line referenced by anybody else here, but I seized on it at the very first viewing.

One of my favorite scenes is from the ep, Serenity, where a hugely overworked and under-appreciated Mal strides into the cargo hold, draws, and blows Dobson out of his socks. It's not so much that I'm a fan of the gratuitous blowing of people out of their socks, but it was a powerful (and really short) scene. After that you have no doubt as to Mal's relative state of mind (had all he can stands and he can't stands no more), not to mention the survival chances of anybody else who tries to give him grief.

How any network could not cherish a show that has such wonders in it is (almost) beyond me...

ETA:Of course, the exchange in Our Mrs. Reynolds between Mal and Jayne concerning Vera and Saffron is also a timeless classic...

It was like that when we got here!

He's crazy. War Stories, Wash to Zoe. Zoe thinking about Niska, Wash thinking about Mal.
Then, He's not gonna have days.

I still can't get that out of my head. Very good intro to Reavers. (shivers)

Going for a ride.

Hey WnW,

Three really good scenes you got there. Here's one of my favs:

In Bushwhacked, after the Alliance board and begin to search the boat. Simon and River hanging on outside in their suits. The look on both their faces looking out into the black is classic.

But we were talking about a line, let's see......
OK, got one. Mal in Mr. Universe's secret room -
"Hard to get to!" Y'all know what I'm talking about, it's classic.

THESOMNAMBULIST

From Firefly

Almost every line that Jubal utters in Objects in Space but my favourite would be (given his predicament)
"Well, here I am.."
and
"Little man loooved fire."

From Serenity the film:
"It's love, in point of fact. Something a good deal more dangerous." - sums up everything!

"This is how it is. Anybody doesn't wanna fly with me any more, this is your port of harbor. There's a lot of fine ways to die. I ain't waiting for the Alliance to choose mine.

One time, here at work, I was talking to a coworker re: somthing I needed to do, and my tough colleague that I should emulate, I took a deep breath like Wash and said, "Yeah, she's terse. I can be terse."

I would say that this one would fit in best in the intial stages of a corporate merger or restructuring... Only because that's pretty much how it feels.

but otherwise, no. Not a lot of good places to use that. Even so, it does leave an impression.

I tend to use, "You can go on your merry," and "easy peasy" a lot. I've used "Walkin' and Talkin'" to describe my early morning condition at work as well.

In everyday conversation (especially at work), I use "Well, that DOES change the landscape a mite..." pretty often.
