RIVERFLAN

I juat had an idea for a piece of fanfic: The starship Enterprise discovers a strange new solar system, with an over-abundance of planets and moons, and their first contact is with the spaceship Firefly. Thing is, I don't know how to explain having humans in two places at once. And if it's some sort of parallel universe, I don't know how to make the Enterprise crew get there, or how to return them. Can anyone help me, please? I appreciate it.

Go Firefly and all those shiny Browncoats!

but i do think serenity's crew would see enterprise's as a little alliance like. kirk would try to establish his browncoat credentials but woulnd't necessarily get believed. spock could help river thru mind meld, freeing some memories.

I guess now is a good time to show just how un-scientific I am. Since the Firefly 'verse is centuries after the Trek 'verse, wouldn't it have to be the BDH's that go back in time since the Enterprise can't go forward to something that hasn't happened yet? I guess Serenity could enter a worm hole, a black hole or an EZ Pass lane that could transport them back a few hundred years. Can you see Spock and Jayne trying to have a conversation? Or the ego clash between Kirk and Mal? And then we have the whole alien problem. Hmmm.... Edit: Okay, scratch the black hole idea, things have a tough time surviving those...it's late... - - - - - - - - - - - - "That's the buffet table." - - - - - - - - - - - -

Leave the black hole; it's Star Trek, they can justify anything. Pretending we didn't know the timelines (or they were reversed, or whatever), the Federation could be the remnant of humanity that I always assumed was left on what was left of Earth-That-Was. (Turns out they managed to make a go of it after all!) I'm sure other tweaks would be needed to make that work, but I don't know what they are because I'm not a Trekkie.

The Alliance would then be challenged by the appearance of a new "True Earth" government that could make a claim at greater legitimacy. Spock could then point out that usurping the existing government would be "Most illogical." And the Federation (to wit, Kirk) could spend an episode pondering whether the Prime Directive applies to pre-Federation humans. At some point he'd remember that the Prime Directive has been (at least throughout the Trek episodes that I've seen my own self) much like the Pirate's Code: "More what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules." Then he'd try to sleep with Inara. She'd turn him down politely. So he'd try to sleep with Zoe. She'd threaten to shoot him. Then he'd try to sleep with Kaylee, who would merely reply that she isn't THAT lonely. Then he'd try to sleep with River. If Simon was around at that point, Kirk would get hit and various official complaints would be filed. If River was alone at that moment, it is more probable that Kirk would simply never be seen again. (Since if THAT wouldn't trigger a conditioned "living weapon" response, then you might as well not even have one.)

I kid! I kid the Star Trek fans!

Star Trek fans say "Kirk needs a good smacking about now and then". Go for it.

LOL! I love it! Someone write it, please.
