Hi all,
I've been mostly lurking for a bit now but I thought I share something I found and see what the rest of ya think. IMDB.com has Zoe and Wash listed as Zoe Warren and Wash as Jerry Lee "Wash" Warren. Anebody know how accurate that is? The site already has Kaylee, Jayne and Inara's full names properly, so does this mean these are right too? Could this be something we were going to see in one of the unaired three?
What do you think?

I think it's a bunch of damned lies! Lies, I say!! Lies!

Warren, maybe, but as Unofficial Thread Editrix for "Alan is Hottie!" I say "Boo hiss" to Jerry Lee. Jerry Lee my foot.

And as to whether or not The Missing Three will tell us anything, there's a gag reel clip that says "This message is for Zoe. And for Malcolm Reynolds." No! Last! Name!

Bring it.

Sarah,

Why are you so adamant about not even entertaining the thought that Wash and Zoe's last names could be Warren and Wash's first and middle name being Jerry Lee?

Well, the Warren part I don't have that big a problem with.

But, and this is no secret, I'm deeply in love with Wash. And his name just isn't Jerry Lee. It's a hillbilly name is he's not a hillbilly. I know this in my heart.

And I'd love to be proven wrong. When all this gets sorted out in movies or a miniseries or whatnot and it turns out his name really is Jerry Lee "Wash" Warren, I'll be the first one to eat my shoe.

But right now: Lies!

Maybe Wash just doesn’t have a last name. It's 500 years in the future, who knows what's going on. Maybe everyone's legal last name is just full of a bunch of numbers like our SS#. People only have spoken last names for the same reason people have middle names-- for no real reason. Just to pass on family heritage, and for something that sounds sweet after your first name. Just an idea.

I don't know. That could be the first rough patch in our entirely fantastic love story.

I would still love him with a hillbilly name because he has shed the hillbilly essentiality that it ensconced.

i don't like to think of Wash as a Jerry Lee. I said before i wish his name was just WAsh. seems fine to me. But I just wonder where IMDB came up with that. And i do want to know truth and a full name.

I'll settle for him havin' a real name as long as i can still think of him as Wash.

Oooo, a Bond fan, Which is your favorite Bond? I think that the best Bond has been Conery. Although if they gave Broznin better scripts he would replace Conery.

What's this I hear about a night raid on Fox? Is their a special code or hand shake to get in? Do we get code names?

If his given name really were hideous then it would make perfect sense that he go for any nickname he could get. Like 'Wash'.

I do not claim a huge store of creativity, but it makes more sense to me that his name has 'Washington' in it, or something that phonetically shortens to 'Wash' the same way Kaywithrin Lee shortens to Kaylee. And Zoe does not need a last name. She is like Madonna or Cher, because she chooses to be, because she wanted to leave her life before the war behind.

Or, how's this: her first name is Zo and her last name is Ee! (May not be the most apt thing I ever typed, but I know it is not the least.)

Talrius,
Personally I'm a Indiana Jones fan but he doesn’t have a number like Bond.
I'd have to agree with you, Conery was the best Bond, but it's not like he had much competition. All the other Bond's were lightweights, Broznin being the lightweights water boy. Yuck, don’t get me started on him.
Oh, and check out this thread for FOX raid info.

We have yet to come up with a hand shake, I think we definitely need code names, and we are still lacking some kind of fire power. And maybe a contortionist like in Oceans 11. Yeah, that'd be cool. Anyone really into yoga and willing to stuff themselves into a little box to be snuck into FOX studios???

So you dig Harrison? I disagree with you on Broznin he has that suaveity(Not a real word) that is Bond, he just hasn't had a good script to express it. Broznin fits the profile to a 'T'.

In the episode Our Mrs. Reynolds, Mal does call Wash Jerry Lee. Just after they got through the space net, Mal returns to the deck where Wash is. Wash says, "It isn't pretty but they got navigational back so that they can turn around." Mal says, "Good work, Jerry Lee."

Now, friends, I might be hallucinating (wouldn't be the first time, and who am I to turn down the free entertainment)...but it seemed to me that, in Our Mrs. Reynolds, right after they clear the net, and before Kaylee (mmmmm...Kayleeee...) laments that she didn't get nav control in time to do any good, that Mal says: "Nice work, Jerry Lee," Could just be Mal-mumble for "Kaylee," mind you, and I invite y'all to bend your ears to the snippet.

I for one am cool with Jerry Lee. Maybe if he'd kept the moustache and the Hawaiian shirt, not so much...

Wash: We got it!
(Mal walks on the bridge just after they got past the net.)
Wash: It’s not pretty but we can steer enough to turn the hell around.
Mal: Nice work Kaylee.
(Cause just after they get out of the net she fixed the nav controls so they can steer.)
Kaylee replies: Wasn't soon enough to help.
Mal: Hey, lot easier to pull things apart than it is to make em’ right. You're still the best damn Mechanic floating.

I make a point to separate characters from actors. I love Indiana Jones, but I'm not that crazy about Ford Harrison. Maybe his early work but after that I think it all went down hill. Maybe not his acting, but the scripts, and it's difficult to do a good movie without a little of both.
About Broznin, I will never agree. I will not be pulled over to the evil side. His "suaveity" comes off as arrogant and his hair is greasy. Arrogant greasy hair boy will never be Bond for me.
For our raid, you know, I think we could use a quiet scary type. Maybe you could sneak in and scare the FOX executives children. That would be a nice second diversion after Melee’s wild loose mongoose. Hey, somebody has got to bring a camera!

You said the magic word: Transcripts.

The actual script as posted at buffyscripts.net says "Kaylee."

Also, thank you Kaythryn for your vehemence and for putting your foot down and I will back you up.

So, it's Kaylee, not Jerry Lee. And Lora is right: it MUST be some kind of diminutive for "Washington." Washington Warren has a kind a poetry to it-- rich boy from the core who learned to fly and left behind that crap for a life of independence.

Kaylee. Kaylee. Kaylee.

Wash. Wash. Wash.

How about this- in an episode pre-dating the current timeline but after Wash joins the crew we discover what "bothered" Zoe was his B.O. She refuses to speak to him about anything other than ship business (or even be in his presence), instead rebuffing his attempts at conversation with a simple "Wash". Only when he breaks down and takes a shower (and loses the soup strainer) does she finally come around. But in the tradition of all great nicknames, "Wash" just kinda sticks.

Sarahetc, maybe Wash is Zoë’s nickname for him, it could stand for Wondrously Astoundingly Sexy Human.
Or maybe it could be Whimsically, Uproariously, Superbly, Humorous.
Or- Warm, Adoring, Sizeable, and Hilarious.
Possibly even- Wonderfully, Amazingly, Skillfully, Handsome.
Alright, I don’t really think so, I’m betting his family just had a sense of humor. If there are people out there willing to juggle geese, I’m betting there are people willing to just name their kid Wash. By the way, I like it. But don't worry Sarahetc, I’m strictly a "for Simon" type of gal. Oh that man is hot!

I refuse to stand idly by while TexJunkie calls into question the personal habits of the entirely fictional love of my life.

I'm worked up! We should all get worked up! We should get out the old postcards and start sending them, but this time asking questions like, "What the rut is Wash's real whole name?" "Will we ever know if Zoe took his name and if so, what her maiden name was?" "Is Wash ever going to surprise Sarah at work and take her to Surin West to eat futomaki and red curry duck and sweet tea!?

I know, I know. I should go soak my head.

But thank you for backing me up with the hygiene. I got your back on whatever it is you need getting. Within reason. Or without. Your call.

I must know more! Tell me about pilots and nicknames and piloty things or I'll be forced to demand you take me out to lunch.

Also, Jeadon? I don't get it.

But that's not the first time that's happened and I suspect it won't be the last.

I'm sure TexJunkie is sorry and if not he/she should be. You should know never insult Sarah's fantasy man.

Yah, we should do that with every unanswered question. Better yet they should just release the FF bible to us ravenous fans.

No, no if our dreams die what's the point of livin'? Just keep flyin' Sarah no matter how outlandish the dream may be, always move further than the long arm of the Alliance-Fox.

But thank you for backing me up with the hygiene. I got your back on whatever it is you need getting. Within reason. Or without. Your call.

Hey I'll always back you up. I'll have to think on what I could do to have you back me up on.

There's nothing terribly concrete here, it's just that pilots tend to pick up nicknames the way other folk breathe. And "Wash" sounded awfully pilot-y to me. (And once in flight school, I was laconic!) Wash, wake (as in ship's wake), contrails. Wash being short for Washington would seem a might anti-climactic to me.

My friends and I have spectulated that WASH sounds an awful bunch like JOSS. Since we all know that Xander Harris is Joss Whedon in High School we just got terrrible suspicious that Wash FunkyLastName is Joss flying a spaceship. So Joss Whedon became Wash Jeadon.

I know, it really wasn't funny enough to be explained in such depth. But then, look at my sig.

"We all know I'm the funny one."
"You ain't all that funny."

That's the ticket, right there. Thanks for saying.

There's really no question in my mind that we'll get to know the whole story. I can't even claim faith in Joss or anything like that, since this is really the first Jossverse story I've followed. I just know though, in my heart and in my bones, that this story cannot go untold.

And I'm hear, every day. Lighting candles and posting.

And thinking Browncoat thoughts.

Do you think this nickname thing would stick, even for his wife? Seems logical enough to me, just making sure.

Me too, only not with the lighting candles thing. What is it with women and the candles anyway?

I just became a Buffy and Angel fan. Kinda distressed about the use of Magic in every episode, anyone else think it's a crutch to move the story on, like technology in Star Trek? I personally think Buffy ended when she took the high dive off the steel grating in season 5 or 6, forget which one it was. It seemed the plot lines took a high dive with Buffy.
