in 'objects in space' he mistakes simon saying: 'are you allinace?' for 'are you a lion?' which is quite funny. but he then also asks: 'are you a bounty hunter?' and jubel says: 'no, it's not that at all, i'm a bounty hunter.'

what is with this? i think it holds some significance.

also, why does he lick the pole outside of inara's shuttle? (actually, that seems less interesting that the first thing, the licking makes a kind of sense)

Its all about Sartre and Existentialism and experiencing the world around you in a more real way and not just accepting the "normal" labels which we assign to the world around us, or something ...

Yes, that thing. Plus the fact that he's a bit psycho.

Early has very good perception as shown throughout the episode except for that one scene where he walks into Mal. As for the licking, trackers lick things all the time. In every tv show or movie that has an old wisen hunter or ranger, they always brush something, either the ground or maybe a tree, with two fingers, then smell and or lick it and say something like: "they went that way" or "someone died here" or "a plane crashed near here."

"I swallowed a bug." -River Tam
