SINGATE

Not a quote but it really cracks me up how Wash freaks out when he sees Tracey up and about. You just know Wash was thinking about zombies.

Alan Tudyk is so very good at the non-verbal. One of my favourite Wash moments ever is when Saffron is telling him her 'stars' story...seriously, the camera just lingers on the pair of them, but pay attention to Wash's expressions. His eyes get rounder and rounder. So adorable.

Yub, yub.

JENNJ

This is both a Jayne and Wash quote but I still howl each time I hear it:

From "Shindig"

Jayne: "We need a diverson. I say Zoe gets nekkid."

Wash(Doesn't even look up):Nope

Jayne: I could get nekkid.

Everyone:No!

Wash's first deadpan responese and then the horrified expression at Jayne's offer......

Its not verbal, but this one cracks me up every time:
In Jaynestown when Mal is telling Zoe about Jayne hero-ness, and Wash is drunk and trying so hard not to laugh,as he knows what mal will say, but he just can't keep it in and just starts to laugh...

This kinda goes along with something somebody already said, but in War Stories where Wash says, "I'll learn as I go along." shot to him carrying the medicine. "And now I'm learning about carrying." I believe that's it, but it might be wrong. Geez, I loved that guy. Large, semi muscularness and everything. Seriously, Joss Whedon hates me, in particular. I think as he was writing the BDM, he was like, what would Terri Day, of Charlotte North Carolina, least like to see happen at the end of this spectacular movie. And then he did it, because he doesn't like what I'm doing with my life.

Mal: [Mal enters dining area] Did you tell her?
Wash: [looks up warily] Tell her what?
Mal: [to Zoë] Your husband has demanded that we sleep together.
Zoë: Really.
Wash: [looking a bit panicky] What? Mal, come on...
Mal: He seems to think it would get all this burning sexual tension out in the open. You know, make it a fair fight for your womanly affections...
Wash: No! That was just the torture talking...
[looking up at Zoë pleading]
Wash: Remember? The torture?
Mal: [walks to Zoë, takes one of her hands and places it on his hip, then with his other hand, moves some hair off her shoulder, sporting a deadpan expression] Private, it's a difficult mission - but you and I have to get it on.
Zoë: [looks at Wash who is struggling to get to his feet, then looks back at Mal and puts her free hand on his shoulder. Also with a deadpan expression] I understand. We have no choice. Take me, sir. Take me hard.
Jayne: [Jayne who has just begun to enter the dining hall, hearing this looks up with a very uncomfortable look on his face] Now somethin' about that is just downright unsettlin'.
Wash: [as Mal and Zoë get closer to kiss - looking like two teenagers on their first date, Wash steps in grabs Zoë's arm and pulls her to the door of the dining hall] We'll be in our bunk.

My favorite!!!

Here's to Wash...long may he soar!

Hehe, in Serenity (the movie) a guy starts flirting with Zoe in the background right after they land on Beaumonde - he says something like, "Pretty lady, forget him and come with me" in Chinese, and Wash retaliates with his own Chinese, "My wife is not pretty!"

Everyone's pretty much beaten me to the best Wash quotes, so I'm gonna share one of my favorite Wash moments.

In "Our Mrs. Reynolds" just before/during the "wedding ceremony" as everyone is just having a good time, there's a quick shot of Wash and Zoe. They're both sitting--Zoe is leaning back against Wash's chest, Wash has his arms around her from behind, and he just leans in and gently kisses the side of her face; the smile on Zoe's face widens a bit, and they cut to the next scene.

It's just a nice little moment between two actors that makes the relationship between the characters seem that much more real and, quite honestly, reminds me of my wife and I.

Oh, it wasn't an accident. I forget the exact quote, but Alan Tudyk speaks about this on the "Done The Impossible" DVD, where he says Joss Whedon discussed Wash's death with him and said it was necessary for the audience to realize that none of the characters were safe; that any one of them could die in the 'verse at any time.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this one, but it always makes me smile: it's a silly little moment between Wash and Kaylee in "Heart of Gold," but it always cracks me up (and I may not have it exactly right):

Kaylee: Everybody's got somebody...Wash, tell me I'm pretty.
Wash: Were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion.
Kaylee: 'Cause I'm pretty?
Wash: 'Cause you're pretty.

Alan's delivery of that last line is just perfect.

No, I'm sure you've realized by now that I was just kidding. I just loved his character is all. I loved him with Zoe, and I loved him with Kaylee, and I loved him with Mal, and I loved him with Jayne... I could go on. But the fact remains that whatever Joss did, he had his own reasons for doing it. And as the person who created this shiny 'Verse, then I just let him do what he's going to do, and trust that the fanboy in him will allow me the slightest tinge of happiness.

I believe Wash's true genius requires context..so I'm putting in other people's lines too.

Wash: (Off an alarm sounding from the console) "Closing in."

Zoe: "Planet's coming up a mite fast."

Wash: "That's just cause I'm going down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all.

Mal: "I would appreciate it if one person on this boat would not assume I'm an evil, lecherous hump."

Zoe: "No one's saying that, sir."

Wash: "Yeah, we're pretty much just giving each other significant glances and laughing
incessantly.

Wash: "I mean, I'm the one she swore to love, honor and obey."

Mal: "Listen..." (beat) "She swore to obey?"

Wash: "Well, no, not... But that's just my point! You she obeys! She obeys you! There's obeying going on right under my nose!"

Wash: "Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?"

Zoe: "Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss-up."

Wash: "I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it."

Wash: (sarcastically) "Yes, Jayne. She's a witch. She has had congress with the beast."

Jayne: "She's in Congress?"

Wash: (amazed) "How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious.

Wash: "Start with the part where Jayne gets knocked out by a ninety-pound girl, 'cause I don't think that's ever gettin' old."

I could go on and on

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2

VERSEEXPLORER

Terri,
I got what you meant. I get your humor!

Quote:

I was one of the few that saw Firefly when it first aired. Whenever I hear Joss talking about it, he refers to the amount of people that saw the show. I'd swear that he says, "Only VerseExplorer and a few people watched it." Has anyone else heard that? "Only (insert your name) and a few people watched it." Joss does have a way of making us feel he is writing just for us. That's why we love him.

Back to Wash:
Not a quote, but I usually giggle in OiS when River is talking as the ship, and Zoe and Wash wake up. He rises slowly, but it always cracks me up because it reminds me of the bloopers when he wakes up quickly, and he makes Gina break character and start to giggle. Too funny!

From Bushwacked:

"The legs. Oh yeah. I would definitely have to say it was her legs. You can put that down. Her legs and right where her legs meet her back. Actually that whole area. That and above it. "

"Have you seen what she wears. Forget about it. Have you ever been with a warrior woman?"

Thats one of the best to me.

Another Favorite:

"And sometimes you juggle geese!"

"Six men came to kill me one time. The best of 'em carried this. Its a Killhan Full-Bore Auto Lock, customized trigger, double-cartridge thorough-gage. It is my very favorite gun."
