I finally was able to watch The Train Job, Bushwhacked, and Our Mrs. Reynolds last night. Hurrah for friends who tape! I was gonna just watch one, but couldn't stop. Now I feel like a little kid who's opened all of her Christmas presents and is all disappointed there isn't more...

Anyway, just thought I'd post a few things I liked.

The Train Job

Loved the opening scene at the bar. You've gotta love Jayne... "I didn't fight in no war... best of luck though."

How scary is Niska? *shudders* He looks like this sweet, nicely dressed old man... Ick.

Jayne's stupid hat when he was jumping onto the train. So stupid, it was almost adorable. (can you tell I'm a major Jayne fan? hmmm?)

Drugged Jayne. Simon's a smart one, isn't he? And seeing Jayne snatching at imaginary angels was TOO funny. But I'm still mad at him for trying to leave Mal and Zoe! *grrr*

The look of understanding that passed between Mal and the sherrif at the end was a nice touch. I also love that Mal didn't see that he had a choice. The only thing to do was give the medicine back.

It's nice to see there's been Mal/Inara tension right from the beginning. He's so dang protective... it's cute. "She hit me!" ha!

Bushwhacked

The basketball game, or whatever they were playing, was priceless. I loved it as a crew bonding moment. They're such little kids one moment, (Kaylee on Jayne's shoulders was cute... isn't that cheating though? ) and so serious the next. The contrast is poignant. Oh, and I loved it as a "We get to see lots of Jayne and Wash's arms" moment, too.

Creepy abandoned ship plot was actually kind of scary... all of those bodies hanging from the ceiling really freaked me out.

Jayne's little joke on Simon. MEAN! but funny. I had to laugh. And, that comment Mal makes in Ariel telling Jayne not to mess with Simon for laughs makes a lot more sense now.

I figure that the Reavers must be really bad 'cause even Jayne's scared of them... man, he was FREAKED OUT when Mal said that's what attacked the ship.

Simon and River hanging on to the outside of the ship. That was some quick thinking, there. And it figures that River would be enjoying it while Simon was scared silly.

That scene with the alliance officer interviewing everyone was kinda funny. Especially with Zoe and Wash's very different takes responses. That whole thing reminded me of a Buffy episode where the council members are interviewing various members of the scooby gang...

The end confused me a little... So, Mal kills the Reaver/survivor kid, saves the Alliance guy's life, (I'm presuming) and in return they just let him go even though he was doing illegal stuff? Doesn't seem like and Alliance-y thing to do.

Our Mrs. Reynolds

Such a priceless opening scene. Mal in a pretty floral bonnet... "I married myself a powerful ugly creature." Loved it. Also, the scene where the two of them were drunk as all get out was hilarious. I thought I was going to die laughing when Jayne went all emotional over the rain stick.

I've gotta hand it to Saffron. Even though I'd read a synopsis and kind of knew what was going to happen, she pulled of the innocent and helpless bit pretty well. All that business about seeing her friends get married off to bad people... I almost believed her.

Poor Mal... everyone is either laughing at him or accusing him of taking advantage of the her. It's just not his day.

The jealous look on Inara's face... priceless.

Loved Zoe calling everyone into the room. She's got a wicked sense of humor.

Jayne offering to trade Vera for Saffron. *laughs* Only he could come up with such a thing. Does this mean that Saffron's charms were working on Jayne even though she didn't mean them to? Well... maybe it was just Jayne being his own usual self. That's plausible too.

Inara kissed Mal when she found out he was alive! HURRAH! But, she doesn't tell him, and he doesn't remember. BOO. Ah well, let the unrequited feelings continue. It's more fun that way anyway.
