Hollyweird has almost died?

2022 there was Dune and the Will Smith slap...maybe that was when it died?

now we have MegaJokolis unwanted remakes of TheCrow, Borderlands disaster...the next Oscars will be forced to give Academy Awards wards to Wolverine-Deadpool / It Ends with Us or Japan toons?

The cinema year is almost over and almost nothing has happened from Hollywood Commiefornia

it wasn't all terrible, you did have Dune-2 and Alien Romulus ...but its another of Hollyweird's worst years...in tv land South Korean foreign language shows are kicking Hollywoods ass, the Koreans are starting to have product challenging US product with movies like 'Exhuma'
while the Japan tv Shogun won almost everything.
Small indie movies can do well but if they say something politically incorrect in the USA the perverts at Hollywood block their success.
They could make speech about Weed or Hemp...keep people stoned and drunk and stupid, do a Bob Marley thing?
China has grown as a cultural power with Chinese language movies still holding their own in Worldwide Box Office keeping Hollywood out of the Top10. Some movies from Hollywood do so bad they try to sell them and get sales in Russia despite Western blockades and war sanctions.
Will Smith who attacks people for offending his baldy swinger wife is probably still banned
they might do their usual stunt and give a bunch of awards to some pretentious Euro type Eurotrash arty European film thing.

Studios are still trying to get their hand on the artistic property of video games but ist not easy, a lot of material is owned by Japan and when Hollywood makes films of video game property they often trash the source material and insult the fans.

Some 200+ Million Hollywood products are also beaten by 'KPOP' the South Koreans doing music movies. Koreans who simply copied the documentary behind the scenes concert film formula try to mimic the Taylor Swift popmusic idea.
Hollywood could also admit it is being challegned by Spanish films or Indian Hindi Bollywood.
K-Pop movies can now challenge Hollwyood in over seas markets and steal the number 1 spots away to win gold with pop music movies.

It was a rough year, but it could have gone worse. A large part of the problem for the Box Office in 2024 was all the movies that were pushed back to 2025-2026 or outright cancelled because of the Writer/Actor strikes last year.

It's also a better or worse year than 2023 depending on which studio heads you're talking to. I don't think I'm going to bother doing all the work putting together 2024 spreadsheets like I did last year, but I can say that Disney's movie division has to be a hell of a lot happier with the results of 2024 than the prior year. They've only put out 2 of the 3 movies they had on the release schedule for 2024 and they're the two highest grossing movies of 2024 earning nearly $2,991,707,268 so far globally combined on $400 Million combined budgets.

In other words, at RoT2.5x, Disney has earned $1.9 Billion after the breakeven point on D&W and IO2. The combined earnings on both of these blockbusters wipes out the 2023 Box Office losses and even adds a few hundred million.

I think Disney does better when it only releases 1 movie per quarter at maximum instead of shitting out a $250 Million movie or two every month. Just fire all the DEI hires, keep the woke agenda shit out of the movies and focus on a few high quality movies every year instead of churning out "content" for their failing streaming service.

I shouldn't have to remind anybody of this. Disney did just that for decades and now they own 1/4 of the shit in the world that they bought with those earlier profits.

Can they give the Oscar to Dune-2 again, Oscars 2022 I Best Original Score Dune I Hans Zimmer, Best Production Design, Best Sound Edits, Best Cinematography, Best Special FX?

Joker got tons and awards and nominations, lots of accolades received by Joker 2019 but its an incredibly shitfilm

the Award show in 2022 received negative reviews, and many were critical of Best Actor winner Will Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock...which was the major event and not a celebration of US film.

I still can't believe how many viewers this show gets.

Wasn't it something like 19 or 20 million last year after it had fallen off sharply during Covid?

If memory serves, last year's viewership is still only about half of what they used to get, but I just can't believe that anybody would want to watch those people blow themselves and each other for 3 hours straight.

'Megalopolis' has ended its run after just 4 weeks with a poor $7.6 million domestically and a terrible 1.90x multiplier. Worldwide total stands at just $12.5 million, against its $120 million budget.
