Woke dumpster fire Wandavision 2: In the Mouth of Blandness crashes and burns and drops 82% on its second Friday, making it officially the MCU movie with the least legs yet.

It had zero competition this weekend. It is also still open in a post-plandemic record 4,534 theaters, making one wonder why even bother keeping the lights on if nobody is coming to see your show. Talk about celebrating empty victories.

Ive been told its ok some good nods to Marvel and old Sam Rami movies but it ruined itself with more of the SJW 'Message' the Antifa Feminist stuff keeps creeping in, Strange I hear is like a guest in his own movie and I hear its an apologist film for serial killer feminists, it makes excuses for Wanada going psycho mommy and killing everyone.

Might stream it or catch the DVD

Embarrassing...

It only made 8 Million yesterday and there's still no competition.

They're not even going to end up banking half of what No Way Home did by the time this turd leaves the theaters, despite holding the record for the largest US theatrical release since Democrats shut down the country in spring of 2020.

Having Sam Rami attached means nothing. Disney Marvel movies don't even need directors. They're all directed by suits sitting at a table. 10 years from now they'll be made by AI Bots.

Blue Beetle is WB / DC

Dr Strange was Marvel Disney

I do still go to the cinema ...not as much. I seen Dr Strange online and I fast forwarded through chunks of it, I didn't even enjoy watching any of the trailers or any of the movie for free.

the genre might be dead now

Some of the biggest films
Cheapish horrors Insidious The Red Door, Evil Dead Rise, The Pope's Exorcist
That Avatar scifi remake about invader Earthlings and giant native space smurfs
The TopGun movie remade into a more modern story
Suepr Mario Bros based on a video game
Barbie based on the Doll
Oppenheimer a movie about the guy who helps build the Atom-Bomb
The Sound of Freedom, a story about human trafficking crimes

I made that prediction on Saturday, May 21st, which was Dr. Strange's 16th day in theaters out of a 98 day run.

I'm just good at this. Really, really good at this.

We had a few years to notice changes
I also have never seen Canadian tv crash so bad...usually if tv shows in the USA stumble Canada would offer location.
How would you define movies or tv and film of the late 2019 or 2020s, so or 2021, 2022, 2023

1Movies afraid to comment
a movie will not comment with any statement. Saying nothing, mix all into a confused mess as ideas are hateful, dislike think and rude jokes are wrong, everything is suddenly Offensive. You want to put a joke in your film? Sonic the Hedgehog, Over the Moon, Trolls World Tour and some superhero Paws Dog Patrol thing are classed as good safe comedy. Other times the Tranny pro-islamo LGBT Open Borders Transexual diversity thing is seen everywhere.

2Money crash
Covid, SJW crash....a movie industry in recession also in Strike

3Playstation and Xbox and 'Barbie' will be the new comicbook material
Video Games and Cartoons are now 'movies' Mortal Kombat or even Mattel Barbie Fashion kid toy dolls
Uncharted, Werewolves Within, Rampage, the video game to tv ‘The Last of Us’

4Overseas Champion
Foreign alien culture influence. A building of a powerful over sea industry from s.Korea, Germany, Spain, China, Japan might set some kind of standard for 'Art'
the Indian 'RRR' the K-drama All of Us Are Dead or 'Kingdom' Barbarians or Barbaren and 8 Days the German tv

5Ultra-Gritty
Hyper-Real, small Horror films, some Grim and Lower budget and big Classic IMAX Show with Top Actors
Some old franchise ideas still make money TopGun, The Batman, some new material 'Nomadland'.
A Quiet Place Part II the Halloween franchise, Pearl, Nope 2022
Documentary style drama is now box office
The Lighthouse, The Fire Within A Requiem for Katia and Maurice Krafft, All Quiet On the Western Front, 1917, Squid Games, Another Round, 1899, Parasite, Argentina Ninteen EightyFive, Sound of Metal

It's been going on longer than 4 years.

You forgot Nintendo, the company that finally figured out how to make a successful video game movie. (Note that I said successful and not good. I don't know if it's good, and I think there were good video game adaptations in the past that weren't successful).

The shows... I dunno. I think people who thought The Last of Us is a good show need to reserve their judgement until they do the second game.

People want to see movies, and they'll still go out and see some of them. As for horror, it will be a fad like anything else. I honestly can't believe we're looking at a possibility of 9 or more of the top 15 most successful movies of the year being in the genre by the end of the month. There's always going to be genre fans who see all of it, but the mainstream appeal this year is what is interesting. I wouldn't expect to see that repeated for too many years though.

No thanks.

I'm really not sure. Beyond all reason, the first Aquaman grossed over a billion dollars. I don't even know how DC did that since Aquaman is a joke. But Amber Heard is still in it, every other DC movie this year flopped and the only superhero movie to make a profit in 2023 has been Guardians 3. It's got a lot going against it.

I think it can probably break even and maybe make a few bucks like Guardians 3 did. Maybe? I'm not going to make an Aquaman 2 Failure Thread about it.

Joker 2? I dunno. Is Lady GaGa really in it? That seems like a joke to me. When Joker came out I had said that they should scrap their existing DCU and make a new one with a new Batman and this new Joaquin Phoenix Joker. The budgets could be a lot cheaper with a more grounded and realistic world they'd have as a sandbox. But they didn't and the idea that they'd make a sequel to this entirely disconnected from any universe Joker perplexes me. DC's universe hasn't made any sense for years. No cohesion at all. 2 simultaneous Batmans with Ben Afflek and the dude from Twilight at the same time? 2 simultaneous Jokers with Joaquin Phoenix and the guy from 30 Seconds to Mars at the same time? Always talk about rebooting the universe or dropping characters if their movies flopped, or even shelving finished movies because they were so bad they would damage the brand.

If Joker 2 has a mid-budget like the first one had ($50 Million) it's going to be a box office success. I wouldn't expect it to make nearly as much as the first one did. I don't think I'd bother watching it.
