I was unable to find this in Cinema back in February when it was supposed to be out. But I looked forward to it because Alicia Vikander has not let me down yet.

It is out on DVD now, at Redbox.
I enjoyed it, yet I feel I would have enjoyed it more in a relaxing theater.
It is a romance, and it is not really light. It almost feels like it could have been Merchant Ivory, except with mostly young people.

I was oft reminded of Atonement, both due to McAvoy, and the theme of separation of lovers. I enjoyed Atonement, and will recall it more fondly than Submergence.

Our premise seemed a bit preposterous, where the lovely and adorable Alicia is wondering if a guy she finds mutually smitten has not called her due to his losing interest in her. This was almost as believable as Jessica Alba pretending to be a non-hottie blend into the background character in Idle Hands, merely by wearing glasses.

Submergence does not have lots of action, likely no CGI, and not other big actors besides the 2 leads. It does have lots of pining for a loved one long distance and out of contact.
If this is what you are looking for, and are not overly jealous of Vikander's tremendous beauty, then I recommend this to you.
Her nudity is not as explicit as some of her other roles, and might even slip by you.
