The Post has to do with the Pentagon Papers and how the government, the Nixon Administration in particular, tried to censor and control the press during the war in Vietnam.

It is a taut political thriller, although that aspect of the film was very subdued. It mostly revolves around the owner, publishers and newspapers editors of the newspaper, the Washington Post. Before you get your panties in a twist, those of you who are right-leaning, this is when "fake news" was controlled by the government - namely Nixon and his cronies. You know, pretty much like now, except the names are different. It has excellent pacing, strong acting and an excellent script. Hanks and Streep are golden in this one. The 2 hours seem to fly by, and not a frame is wasted.

Anyway, the story mostly follows the owner and what the newspaper went through to get the story revolving around a report that was commissioned by the government and how they covered it up. The Vietnam war was not popular and the United States was losing the war. But the people weren't too happy, and the government would lie to the public to give the impression we were winning.

Anyway, Spielberg has another hit on his hands. So much so, that people applauded at the end. Applauded! I haven't seen that in quite some time in the theater. I highly recommend it.

Are you suggesting somebody used to print out Google news, like every day? Why would anybody do that?
